Good question. Why doesn’t the Wilson principal consider a different school when she has such disdain for the in-boundary families?

How about the in-bound parent conduct themselves respectfully - that would be a good start. No one ever talks about their bad behavior and disdain for OB students (code: black and brown students).

IB parent here, and I couldn’t agree more.

+1. Also the black principal who parents hated before she started because racism. If parents have a problem with OOB students, they need to tell their feeder elementary schools to stop admitting them to the pipeline.

Wow, I had no idea parents can order schools to stop following DCPS policy. This changes *everything*.

Or let them fill up their feeder schools if they don't want OOB kids enrolling in them.

Aren’t all the feeder schools already full of IB students?

Are you in favor of overcrowded schools?

How do you think OOB kids get into Wilson? Through the feeder schools. My own kid got into Hardy as an OOB student in 7th grade. So no, they aren't full of IB students.

Some get in this way, but a decent percentage live in-bounds at a certain point, enroll in school, move away and get to stay in the feeder pattern all the way through 12th grade. So they never lotteried in. This is why it's interesting to me to see so many people furious at the parents that lottery and treating "OOB kids" as all black-and-brown kids from Wards 7 & 8. In group/out group is more important than facts.

I'm an OB Wilson parent. No, my IB school is not more attractive. I work near Wilson and am willing to drive my kid if need be.

If you work near Wilson, want your kid to go be with those type of neighborhood kids but yet you don't want to invest into the community. You're a free loader and the type of parent we want out of Wilson. Go make your neighborhood better instead of making ours worse

The elementary schools are filled with IB kids. Then DCPS revises the capacity numbers each year and surprise! Now you need to take 5
OOB kids. That’s the reason the mayor finally agree to budget for a new Ward 3 Elementary school before the fire marshal shut down the OOB pipeline. It allows them a few more years to play this game.

And I'll add, you are the type of person that us DC Natives wish would leave our city.

PP. please ignore this poster. She has no idea how you do/don’t invest into the community. Even if your don’t “contribute” like vast majority of high school parents, that doesn’t mean anything. You’re entitled to go there as a DC resident. This horrible PP does not speak for most IB people.
