Lots in private, for sure. I also know a few AA families IB for Wilson, but who have kids at Walls. Seems bottom line is that most avoid Wilson.

There are Wilson graduate signs on dozens of my AA Shepherd Park neighbors’ lawns. I ride/walk the neighborhood quite a bit.

PP here. Dozens? I’ve seen maybe two Wilson signs and I walk/jog 2-3x daily. Way more private school signs. Having talked to parents, they have continuing concerns about Wilson.

This is a complete exaggeration. There are not even dozens of these signs in AU Park where I live

I helped deliver them for the school. Yes, there were dozens in Shepherd Park. Quite a few in Brightwood too.

Why are you assuming all those families are AA?

Well, I know at least 10. 🤷🏻‍♀️

My kid takes the Wilson bus from Shepherd Park and I drive him more times then I care to admit. Yes, there are many AA kids from Shepherd Park that attend Wilson. Why is this a debate?

I'm one of the PPs that said I don't see many Wilson signs, and I'm also a black SP resident. Granted I have much younger kids, but I don't know any black families with kids at Wilson in the neighborhood. All the ones I know are at various privates, parochials, and Walls.

I think it's a good sign that younger black families in the neighborhood seem more willing to attend Wilson by the time their kids get to high school. I guess not great for overcrowding, but it's only a handful from SP anyway.

Because people are tied to the narrative that there are no middle class black people attending Wilson.

Why would anyone be ties to that narrative? (My DC will be in ninth grade at Wilson in the fall.)

Here’s one idea: Deflection by white families who don’t want to send their kids to Wilson; they can claim it can’t possibly be about race since middle/UMC Black families also won’t send their kids there.

No one said none, just not a major presence. Because the demographic isn’t really that prevalent in all of society. You may know a few because that’s your cir but all that means is unicorns run in packs. Doesn’t mean there are lots of unicorns

So now we're unicorns. Got it. Keep your narrative going....
