Current projections are for Wilson to be over 2000+ students for the fall.
The school was built for 1500 students. Under the best of circumstances this would be difficult yet Principal Martin is encouraging this and has no plans to send OOB students back to their neighborhood schools. |
| And, the sky is blue? Wilson is always overenrolled. Has been for years. |
| If you don’t like the overcrowding, send your kid to an underenrolled school. |
This. There are plenty, and your child will be better able to social distance. And you won't have to worry about the Wilson teachers not following DCPS grading guidance. The grass is probably much greener elsewhere! |
| I think that well regarded public schools are overenrolled everywhere, and they do fine by the kids. |
| Why do people send their kids across town to overcrowded schools when they have such distain for the neighborhood and their kids’ classmates? |
Why don't the OOB kids go to their underenrolled schools? |
Good question. Why doesn’t the Wilson principal consider a different school when she has such disdain for the in-boundary families? |
They are likely not the ones complaining about the shool being overenrolled. |
+1. Wilson is ridiculous. |
| Over enrolled by kids who don't live anywhere near it. |
| I'd like to know why they are building another elementary school in NW but NOT another middle school/high school or doing some real rezoning. Send 1/3 of the Wilson kids to Roosevelt - amazing building. Sigh. |

"Last year's 9th grade class had a 23% withdrawal rate?"
Thats a real vote of confidence with there. |
Because according to the rules they have a right to be there. You don't have to like the rules, but you have to follow them. |
