Jessica Simpson on her alcoholism: Today Show

He was good for her , but she was too caught up in own self and listening to Papa Simpson show casing her boobs and her vocal talent. And her sister Ashley really faltered too.

Her father was hypocritical trash. He was a right wing evangelical "preacher" who in middle age came out of the closet and is chasing twinks in West Hollywood.

So predictable.

I find it disgusting that she’s timing and publicizing her getting sober to launch her book. She’s all over the media outlets now with the whole drinking and getting sober thing, being so candid about how impaired and irresponsible she was being as a mother and she’s getting so much attention for it it’s quite disturbing.
I even saw on people.com a couple of days ago the main page obviously had the Kobe stories at the top and then what JS had to say about his death. WTF? Why would anyone care? I will always be happy for a mother who gets sober and better for her kids, for herself and for her family. But she’s clearly using the abuse she went through, years of eating disorders and alcoholism to promote herself and her book and propel this come back she’s attempting.

It is to push the book but its a prevalent problem with mothers of young children and she may ultimately be helping some people. [/quote

How’s she going to help anyone if she’s doped up during the interviews? She’s not sober, she’s just whoring her story out again.

+1. I was fully prepared to support her until I saw her loaded on the interview. She's just traded one vice for another, that's not real sobriety. Kind of reminds me of how out of it Britney is now too. What do they do, load these girls up on pills to keep them "in line"?

Yes, absolutely. It's actually very sad to see grown, wealthy and privileged women be so controlled and taken advantage of.

Totally medicated.

This makes me so sad.

Her book is heartbreaking. She suffered abuse, a terrible family that embraced hypocritically values, and was not equipped to mentally withstand everything she's gone through. I do think her mother's decision to take the fashion brand and build it to a billion dollar empire was genius, but her father is trash and trashed his children's lives. I have no ideal why anyone of them want anything to do with the jerk.

Yikes, two years is not long in recovery circles. I'm wondering who encouraged the book tour and even the book (at the two year point). I wish her the best and
also wish the husband and children the best. It is very rough to be the spouse of an alcoholic and the children of an alcoholic.

He's gay. And he's open and out and even went on television for some sort of reality thing IIRC, maybe it was Ashley's show with Diana Ross' son (they are married).

It's not like she needs the money. She is worth hundreds of millions of dollars thanks to her clothing line.

I ordered a presale signed copy! I think I get it in Feb

I actually like her- bad family, dumb blonde thrown into fame and most famous for being an idiot. Gets divorced, builds a huge fashion brand, raises beautiful children and now discusses recovery

Maybe I like her BC we are built the same- big boobs that are cute when you’re 20, not cute when you gain weight and now have size G boobs

Evan Ross is FLAMING.

Nick claimed Joe used to grab his ass, said he would not miss it on Easter.

As childhood/young stars they don't know any better. They're easily manipulated.

Drew Barrymore, Lindsey Lohan, Miley Cyrus, justin bieber, the list goes on and on. Sure, there might be an exception here and there, but it is rare.
Classic Hollywood (sad, but true).

Here are the next three on my list:

1. Adam Rippon
2. Andrea Barber
3. Jessica Simpson

Tell me more! What are some of your favorites? One of my new year's resolutions was more guilty pleasures in my reading!

Hmmm .... here's what stands out:

Good: Brad Goreski, Andy Cohen, Chelsea Handler's latest, Kathy Griffin, Ross Matthews, Cameron Diaz, Rob Lowe, Mindy Kaling (both), Trevor Noah, Leah Remini, Carole Raziwill (biography), Amy Schumer, Bethenny Frankel (they make you want to cook healthy, do yoga and earn money)
Bad: Gary Janetti, Snooki, Caroline Manzo, Lauren Graham, Lena Dunham (one I couldn't finish), Brandi Glanville (another I couldn't finish), Carole Radziwill (fiction)
Eh: Drew Barrymore's latest, Gabourey Sidibe, Simone Biles and Aly Raisman (both were really boring and it was like they were just reciting facts/stats), Teresa Guidice (the one after she got out of prison)

+1 I'm on xanax for anxiety and don't feel like she's on anything here. She's never been bright or all that well-spoken, I think this is just her.

Well Nick seems or seemed like a good dude back then who was probably tired of being married to a woman who acted like a child. Always needing Daddy's say so. I remember watching Newlyweds and thinking there wouldn't be room for 3 in that marriage eventually.
