I find it disgusting that she’s timing and publicizing her getting sober to launch her book. I even saw on people.com a couple of days ago the main page obviously had the Kobe stories at the top and then what JS had to say about his death. WTF? Why would anyone care? I will always be happy for a mother who gets sober and better for her kids, for herself and for her family. But she’s clearly using the abuse she went through, years of eating disorders and alcoholism to promote herself and her book and propel this come back she’s attempting.

It is to push the book but its a prevalent problem with mothers of young children and she may ultimately be helping some people.

Alcoholism kills and will kill young. She may be on some of the anti abuse meds too. She has not been sober very long. It does appear that she is medicated
on the today show. Prescription meds can be controversial in the recovery community. Clearly if the prescription meds help her stay sober and live, not die, they
are worth it but many times alcoholics trade alcohol for addictions to prescription meds.

She was really beautiful when she was with Nick. The alcolholism really explains the bloatedness that we've seen for years. My guess is she was getting most
of her calories from alcohol towards the end and not food. Recovery takes life long effort. I hope she makes it. This would have pretty rough on her
husband and her kids. The public sees the happy family pictures but behind the scenes it would have been very rough on the husband and kids.

I don't know if her husband had a drinking problem too or not, he may have just quit in solidarity with her, to help her and support her.

PP again. To be clear, I'm not saying it isn't Xanax or something! It just seems like there's more going on than Xanax here. I suspect she's traded alcohol for pills.

I don't understand the timeline of her alcoholism. She gave birth in May 2012, June 2013, and March 2019. So somewhere between June 2013 and 2017 (when she said she sobered up)?

According to her book, she stopped drinking in Nov. 2017. Her husband immediately supported her and is sober as well.

Her book is heartbreaking. She suffered abuse, a terrible family that embraced hypocritically values, and was not equipped to mentally withstand everything she's gone through. I do think her mother's decision to take the fashion brand and build it to a billion dollar empire was genius, but her father is trash and trashed his children's lives. I have no ideal why anyone of them want anything to do with the jerk.

It wasn't just alcohol, she is saying she had a 20-year addiction to "diet pills" as well.

I like her a lot. I have watched her since the newlyweds. And I thought she seemed way off on the Today Show. I can’t imagine how difficult it would be to discuss these issues on television. I wish her well.
