It means you are normal, not a pro-ana creep. Welcome to humanity. |
Exactly this. Eat vegetables. Go for a run/walk outdoors. Eat some ice cream. Balance. And the people who fast for religious or spiritual reasons are not not doing it to be skinny, and they're not imbibing or ingesting anything (like broth). They're doing it for a limited time (like Ramadan) to cultivate their prayer, meditation, gratitude, charity and service to others. They're not doing it to torture themselves or to lose weight. That's an eating disorder. |

There are two kind of people in this world. Closed minded and open minded people. Being against things that you never tried makes you closed minded. Being militant that there is only one way to eat, drink, sleep, work, is closed minded. If you are on the either side that it is only eat, or don't eat, you are closed minded. If you believe in eating disorders being anything that you would not do, you are closed minded.
Eat as much as you want or don't eat anything at all, if that is what you want. But, stop calling people who act differently than you by names and diagnosing people to be gluttons or ana. |
No. If you're encouraging people to go 48 hours without eating, you are encouraging unhealthy behavior. Just like I am not "open minded" about encouraging folks to go play in traffic or shoot up heroin, I am not encouraging people to stave themselves because they think it'll turn themselves into mystical skinny people who can survive on Perrier and good vibes from other pro-ana folks. |
This. If you are fasting but fat adapted, then your body is using your body fat for fuel. No big deal. If you are fasting but not fat adapted, then your body is still using your body fat for fuel but isn’t very efficient at it yet so you feel horrible. What you’re experiencing is withdrawal from carbs. Much like an alcoholic experiencing withdrawal, it doesn’t mean that what you’re doing is a bad thing. |
No; it means you are addicted to sugar. My bet is you are obese. |
|
Comparing fasting to drugs is so incredibly ridiculous, narrow-minded and hateful.
I bet you are overweight/obese, too ) |
Yeah only fatties eat more than once a month. Bone broth is for closers. |
|
I do a 36 hour fast once a week and sometimes twice a week.
Fasting really helps to maintain my weight and it's helpful for evening out some over indulgences. |
The Ana Guru and the ad hominims. Nice. DP, not obese, probably way more fit than you, isn't petrified of carbs. |
Look, I object to you calling anorexic people creeps, even if I disagree that fasting means people are anorexic. Anorexic people have a mental disorder and it's really out of line to mock them as "creeps." Truly stomach turning. |
So you sometimes go 3 out of 7 days without eating? |
As in airhead? |

This debate is crazy. Intermittent Fasting is a real thing, it is being researched at many well regarding universities and it is NOT an eating disorder. That is not t say that someone with an eating disorder might not do it, just like someone with an eating disorder might count calories. The fact that people with eating disorders practice things in common with thougthful weight/health practicies does not make those practices suspect. |
Occasionally, yes. When I feel my weight creep up after a week of excesses I will toss in an extra fast just to even it all out. Fasting has many benefits and as long as you are healthy and not skin and bones it is perfectly safe to do. |
