At least they are possibly nice people, unlike you. |
Statista shows that about half of the kids in each birth year group are getting bachelor’s degrees, and that the percentage has been increasing a bit in recent years: https://www.statista.com/statistics/185157/number-of-bachelor-degrees-by-gender-since-1950/ |

| Lots of kids are going to college but not many finish. |

| ^^^so many articles about the decline of college grads with lots of factors. When you talk of competitiveness, you’re referring to the top tier schools. Most college kids do not attend those schools. |
| State schools including Cornell |
You spelled it wrong - one too many "L"s. |
| NOVA and if they do well, transfer to GMU |

Proud mom of "average" kids...whatever that means. Average "GPA wise" yes. But in life skills "well rounded" kids...they are above average. I was the average kid too....and scored even lower on SATs than my kids...went to Marymount then transferred to JMU. Went on to Georgetown. Happy in my career and making enough to live in NOVA...no small feet.
It's tough being "average" in NOVA but there is a college for everyone and in the end it doesn't matter where you start but where you finish and what you do with a degree. Go to Radford or Longwood...transfer after 1 yr if not happy....or finish and then do grad school at UVA, W&M, etc. I know of someone who went from Longwood to W&M to earn Masters in Ed. It's possible. Everything is possible with hard work and grit. |
SMCM is much much easier to get into than CP. |

Nothing wrong with "average." I went to University of Delaware.
Great jobs and career after graduation. As the other poster said....there is a lot to be said for life skills. I know a lot of Ivy League graduates working in retail or as secretaries post graduation or otherwise doing jobs you could get with a high school degree only. |
You know a lot? How many Ivy grads working in retail that you know of? Which Ivy did they attend? |
Congrats to DS on his achievements and goals. It is a lot of work to play football and graduate with a four year degree. Your son and your family will go far unlike the nasty prior, prior poster. |
LOL@ 2.5/920. That’s hard to get! Congrats!! |
