Where do average students go to school?

Why just LSA? I've seen very subpar students get into Michigan Ross and engineering. It's a safety school for students who can't break 1100 on the SAT

Why just state schools? Plenty of private schools are easier to get to not than public schools.

But private schools are crazy expensive.

My son had a 3.2 unweighted in MCPS. Couple of APs. 1300+ SAT. Got $35k merit (off of $47k tuition sticker price) at Susquehanna. He wound up at a similar LAC at a slightly higher cost to us. It's a great fit for him. 'Private schools are crazy expensive', as a blanket statement, is simply not true.

A lot of people don’t even consider out of state state schools, but I don’t know why. We found some ended up being no more expensive than in state.

Similar. DS had just under or was at 3.0. Had a 1330 SAT and applied to one private in Ohio and four OOS state schools. Had acceptances within three or four weeks and tuition discounts applied at all of them. Ended up at an OOS state school and tuition is ~$14k/ year.
