Does anyone not watch GoT?

I read the books and liked them, at least the first three. I watched 2 seasons of the show then stopped when we cancelled our HBO subscription, never started back up again. Maybe I'll watch the rest of it some day if it becomes available on Prime for streaming.

I mean, even when you're watching it live we're talking about 1 hour per week, for a total of 8 weeks. Spread that out over the year and you have to watch, like, one hour of TV per month to stay caught up.

It's fine to say you don't watch it, but don't pretend it's because you're "too busy". That's just not true. You're choosing not to which is fine. I have a fulltime job, parttime grad program, and two young kids and I am SO excited to watch it every Sunday night for the next two months.

(the "busy" olympics are a real pet peeve of mine)

Someone might be able to technically eke out an hour per week to watch a show that’s somewhere on their mental watch list, but prioritize other things. You prioritize GoT, they don’t. Nothing weird about that, and it doesn’t make them liars.

That's literally exactly what I said. But the "I'm too busy to watch" is just such an obnoxious response and totally out of context. You're not too busy, you don't want to watch. That's fine. People who complain about how busy they are constantly are annoying.

Lol, I'm the one who responded I'm too busy to watch it. Ok, fine, I should revise it to say I'm busy and watching it is not top of my priority list. That more accurate? As in I didn't start watching it when it first came out and now I'm like 7 seasons behind? So it seems overwhelming to catch up on so much just so I can follow the cultural conversation.

For the same reason, I haven't finished Ulysses though I could if I just read one hour a month over the next couple months...

I don’t. That stuff is weird to me. Like D& D.

I have enjoyed GOT. But I literally cover my eyes with my hands whenever a disturbing or violent scene is on or if I think it’s about to get violent. Sometimes I even cover my ears and turn my head.

It works really well. Like I said. I have enjoyed GOT this way. It’s possible. It does help to have someone watching with you to explain what just happened, but I don’t think it’s completely necessary.

Never seen it. We don't have cable, so DH goes to a friend's house. I've heard enough to know it's not for me.

I don't doubt it has a good storyline, but I don't understand why they then rely on so much torture porn. The early years of House of Cards is more my idea of dark, disturbing, and completely addictive.

Sounds dark and violent without reason.

I do not watch it. Watched the first 3-4 episodes and found the objectification of women's bodies to be overwhelming.

I’ve never understood how people can find violence entertaining.

Don't have access, but plan to watch when it becomes available on a platform we use (Netflix/Amazon Prime).

Husband watches it. I don't like it. Unnecessarily violent and porny.

I don’t watch it. Gave it a shot for two episodes but thought it was terrible.

I know I sound like a prude, but it I'm really annoyed by gratuitous sex and violence. If it's important to the story line, fine but GOt really goes outof it's way to appeal to people's basest instincts.

I tried watching it a few years ago and hated it. Didn't help that my bf at the time drooled over Dany constantly, ha.

Last year I started reading the first book while visiting a family member who had it laying on the coffee table, couldn't put it down. Read the whole series then watched the show. I enjoyed the show that time around, although it misses a lot of the details in the book. For example, I was disappointed that Doran Martell just looked like a weak ruler, when in the books he was actually a mastermind who had been plotting for years to bring the Targaryens back into power.

I recommend reading the books, but if you want something "cuter", I like the prequel "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms", which is a super cute story about a knight (Dunk) and his 8 year old squire (Egg). A little gory, but not as bad as the main series.

Alot of people watch it but will not admit to it. It's almost like soft porno, with violence and incest. After a few episodes, you feel like you have to shower because of all the dirty sex. But, the book is very well written and so is the show. It is very complex. Kinda like Lord of the Rings-events and complex situations leading up to a huge battle.
