This is why I think that DC's gentrification is a great think and the move to improve the area around Union Station can't come to soon. |
| Regardless of the idiot upthread who said it was dangerous to "think like that", women do need to be safe--meaning we need to be vigilant and aware of our surroundings when alone. We will always be prey for crazy men simply because we are (mostly) physically weaker. This is nothing new. Waiting for men to change how they act is not a solution so stay safe, ladies! |

I wonder if she lost more blood because her heart rate was so elevated from jogging.

"He got home Tuesday night after the stabbing and said he saw evidence markers and dried blood outside the restaurant. He said he’ll try not to let the stabbing affect him too much. “I don’t see any advantage to walking around terrified,” he added." Yeah, just stick your head in the sand and stay oblivious smh

I read that story and the crazy thing is the first question the suspect's friend asked was 'What did he do to the girl?" Not..."What is going on?" "Who are you looking for?" He knew exactly what his rapist/murderer friend intended. |
What do you mean by "stay safe, ladies"? What should ladies do to stay safe, in your opinion? |
I don't see what's odd about it. It is tragic that any human being (black, male or otherwise) could feel that stabbing a person is something that you ever do. It is a damning condemnation of these men's disgraceful, murderous actions. |
Only of clothing? Really? Nothing about race in that article? |
This! x a million. Act like you live in our current world, not the way you think things "should be." So many people just don't get this. |

Oh for pete’s sake, really? Run in well lit and populated areas. Don’t run with headphones. Stay aware of your surroundings. If you run in the street, wear brightly colored clothes or lights so that drivers can see you. No one ever asks to be raped, killed, hit by a car, etc. But it isn’t victim blaming to encourage people to make choices that might decrease the likelihood of something bad happening. |
minus a million That's how we get to living in a society like Saudi, where women can't go out, travel alone, dress a certain way, because men can't control themselves or their actions. Give the men a curfew. Start redirecting, and telling men to be responsible - explicitly assert: don't attack, don't rape, don't shoot, don't kill, don't assault, etc. When you keep putting it on the shoulders of women, the entitlement of men and boys grow - they have no reason to change their end. I am a female runner, and I am f*cking tired of this sh!t. |
