Woman killed while jogging near Logan Circle

I’m guessing it had to do with being stopped at a crosswalk in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I don't think anyone was victim blaming or accusing this poor woman of getting herself murdered. have some sense.

Condolences to her family and friends.

Yeah, because there are lots of gentrifier men in expensive workout clothes and accessories who are attacked/killed by women while jogging and oblivious to their surroundings. Gender is irrelevant

It freaks me out that this was 8 pm! That's really not late at all. Plenty of times I've been walking home from WORK at that time.

It happened before 8:00PM. That's really not late, especially in such a popular dining neighborhood. There would have been plenty of people around. Be safe out there, ladies.

Are you suggesting that this woman who was killed was doing something unsafe?

Oh please shut the hell up. We all know what was meant.

I am not the OP, but I'm guessing that what was meant was: be careful not to do stuff that gets you murdered, ladies.

There are major problems with that kind of thinking.

Oh and pray tell, what would those problems be?

Well, for starters:

- you don't get yourself murdered. Someone murders you.
- one person's control over another person's actions is very limited
- there is a lot of overlap between "leading a normal life in public places" and "the stuff that gets you murdered, ladies"
- lots of ladies do that stuff all the time and don't get murdered
- blaming women for getting themselves murdered is a long and time-honored tradition, but it needs to stop

Of course, we don’t get ourselves murdered. I’ve been the victim of violent crime and there was not a damn thing I could do about it. I wasn’t consulted before the attack. Now, I’m extremely cautious, but with the understanding that I can’t prevent or control such a situation from happening again.

People cross in crosswalks with the light all the time without bad things happening. And, sometimes they get hit and killed. I look and walk defensively to keep from getting run over. Even if I’m doing the right thing and following laws, I’ll be just as dead if someone hits me. It makes sense to keep an eye out, even though it’s the driver’s responsibility to not kill me.

From Prince of Petworth:

"“The girl was standing at the corner across from where we were sitting outside eating and she was stabbed by a seemingly random man. Two men sprinted across the street and dragged her into the Chinese restaurant and my friend tried to give her CPR. There was a lot of blood and we had to speak with homicide detectives before we could leave the scene so I am guessing she didn’t make it.”

This is a very strange thread on this. For me, this is very disturbing. I live two blocks from here and was having dinner at a nearby patio at the time. This is where my child walks. I'm not sure why people aren't having a real discussion about it instead of this crap.

I just hope they're caught! The descriptions are only of clothing, which is understandable if everything was in confusion.

There must be some surveillance video of the three perps. DCPD should release immediately.

More victim blaming.

Could it be spillage over from this area? Are you talking about 9th and P?

SERIOUSLY!!! A woman was killed at a time when many of us are coming home from work or out with our kids. I, too, live in LC although several blocks from there. I'm also a runner. This scares me.

This is just unfortunate in so many ways. And I am sorry to hear this has happened - her family must be devastated. So many questions. Tragic for these men (black or otherwise) that this is what life has come to. Tragic for our community because we all want to feel safe, especially in social spaces. I am saddened by this. Tragic that it can easily fit into so many old narratives. I hope they catch these assholes...

8th and P is the rec center. Lots of issues, including the stray bullet that went through the window of city market at O next door.
