Woman killed while jogging near Logan Circle

Tragic for these men (black or otherwise) that this is what life has come to. Tragic for our community because we all want to feel safe, especially in social spaces. I am saddened by this. Tragic that it can easily fit into so many old narratives. I hope they catch these assholes...

What a strange sentence (for multiple reasons) in the middle of an otherwise rational post.

Two men sprinted across the street and dragged her into the Chinese restaurant and my friend tried to give her CPR. There was a lot of blood and we had to speak with homicide detectives before we could leave the scene so I am guessing she didn’t make it.”

Thank you to all the bystanders who tried to help this poor woman. What a tragedy.

+1 Very odd sentiment.

I hope that the murderers are American citizens so that we can try to address the problem of violence in our society without turning this into an immigration political football.

Somehow this doesn't strike me as a random attack. Those guys went looking for that woman (or someone who looks like her).

I hope they catch them soon.

Now news reports are saying a single suspect. My guess is mentally ill/drugs/both.

DC has always been dangerous. This is life in the big city. I am always amazed to see women walking alone at night in DC, it's like they arw oblivious to where they are. Talking about you yoga girls and runners

This and the woman brutally attacked by the police station on cap hill (thank god not killed) both sound to me like hate crimes. Very violent, not sexual, nothing stolen, umc young white women.

So sad. Reminds me of Tricia McCauley.

A) It was 7:30pm. Not late. Basically happy hour time.

B) It was and is a very safe area.

C) Big city? This forum needs to make up its mind. Either DC isn't a true city or it is lol.

I'm very sorrow for her loss and I will go to a public memorial should the family have one.

Alternatively, they have places to go and things to do and don't think that the acceptable alternatives are (1) sit at home or (2) insist on a chaperone.

I was also raised in the belief that girls and women should never go out by themselves after dark because it's not safe. I'm over it.

This made me think of Iowa State University student-athlete who was just randomly killed while freaking GOLFING on the university golf course!

Apparently the golf course was next to campus and the campus community was allowing all these homeless people to take over their town. Guy living in a tent decided he was going to rape and kill that day, according to another homeless witness.

Actually I was thinking they both sound like random attacks by mentally ill drug users. WOC get attacked all the time; we just don't hear about. I seriously doubt race played a role, but race is why we're here talking about this murder instead of many others.

+1. There are so many crazies walking around. That's why police need to be allowed to rid the streets of homeless people and I don't mind stop & frisk.
