What I fear is we may not have free and fair (its a relative phrase, but I mean not interfered by foreign power) election anymore. GOP will remain in power in 2018 and 2020. Trump will ruin all protections for citizens, pack the judiciary with incompetent sycophants and GOP will not have any check on him. Citizen will tune out news media and trump will curtail news media's power while empowering Fox (or some other media) as the state media. By 2024, we would be a authoritarian oligarchic country like Russia, having elections with no power in the hand of people.

My theory is that the GOP has been swaying elections via their Republican owned voting machines for years, and that there is evidence of this on the RNC emails that were hacked. Hence the GOP fealty to Russia.

Very possible..

Any evidence that you would like to share?

Trump started out today blaming previous American administrations and the Mueller probe for US - Russia levels being very bad. But, standing next to Putin at their press conference, Trump repeated those charges and more. Trump attacked Democrats and the FBI, he didn't defend the US from repeated outrageous allegations about America from Putin, and failed to challenge Putin on a single issue.

The bottom line is that Trump sided with Putin against his own government and people.

Get your story straight - he didn’t side against his own government, he sided against Democrats. This what he ran on, and he still stands by it. He didn’t side against his people- actually the statement he made is supportive to the people who elected him.

Trump sided with Putin against his own DNI and intelligence services. It is amazing what Trumpsters will condone in defense of their dear leader. Trumpism really is a cult and you really would defend him from shooting someone on 5th Avenue.

I don't like his performance today either. But he will never be your typical politician. He says what's on his mind.

Those are Americans...

Nope, they are not acting in the best interest of Americans

And you think Trump is acting in the best interest of America? By telling our longtime allies they aren't our foes not Russia?

What alternate reality do I find myself?

It's the selective editing of Fox News that makes this worse. They're not covering any of Trump's horrific statements saying he believes Russia as much as he believes the US.

Wot? First, “Pakistani guy” is an American citizen who is alleged to have committed bank fraud — nothing else other than nutjob fever dreams. Second, the FBI investigators didn’t need to take possession of any DNC servers. They have logs and images of the compromised computers, as evidenced by the most recent indictment issued as part of counterintelligence investigation led by Mueller. I don’t think you understand what’s in the best interest of America, unless you want a puppet state of Russia.

Trump's full response to the question about whether he believes US intelligence or Putin:

Jeff, who are these posters that keep defending trump on this board? can you tell in the logs if they are in the DMV area or other places in the country? are they even in the US or on this planet even?

He clearly lacks even the basic understanding of cyber security. Didn’t someone brief him on chain of custody etc.?

Coats is no Clapper.

Whether he stays or goes, he's useless.

Which is that he doesn't think Russia did what our own I.C.s have stated, and even after over a dozen indictments, and even after Senate IC committee said so.

He says what's on his mind, and he lives in his own mind and not in reality. You can see that when he opens his mouth.

And I agree with others... if this was Clinton or Obama saying this about Irans.. holy cow.

The reason why Rs can't face facts is because that would mean they'd have to admit being wrong. An avid Nixon supporter wrote an article about why Trumpsters can't face facts even when it's being beat into your face. He went through the same thing with Nixon.

That paradigm doesn’t seem to be working.
