Do you have any interests that others around you just don't care about?

Needless to say, I go to a lot of Bollywood films alone.

I like foreign movies too, but I mostly watch French, German, Italian, Polish and Check movies.

I enjoy visiting historical sites and I also love listening to Orchestra music (I really don't like the music played by marching bands - it sounds like blaring noise to my ears. But symphony music is so pretty...)

I also enjoy scented candles, soaps, perfumes which I know that some people DESPISE so I don't really talk about it.

And I love marching bands! Drum lines, drum line competitions, parade marching bands, military marching bands, tattoos. Saw blast the musical, a similar hcbu theater production and Edinburgh tattoo. 3x. Also pipe bands of all sorts. I won't say it's a weird obsession, who doesn't love a parade?

It is a very interesting topic, but I geek on various aspects of the markets. I would think that foreign policy wonks would be good for international oil markets conversation because any oil discussion implicates geopolitics. But these are fascinating, amazing times for oil, and American oil.

Practically all my enthusiasms are unspoken until encountering somebody whose enthusiasms overlap.

Just what I was thinking when i read op. Energy in general is really fascinating right now, what will happen to utilities, etc.

Bird watchers, did you see the nyt story last week about the feminist birding club in NYC? You have a tribe!

That's me, as well!

I also like ballet.. and almost always go to performances on my own. I've tried dragging my daughter along a couple of times, and she had trouble sitting through the show. She's only 10, so there's still hope, but I'm not holding my breath.

I love parades, too. I just don't like the siss boom bah, loud honking, clattering noise of marching band music. I was secretly so relieved when my kids never expressed an interest in playing in the band. They have both learned stringed instruments which are lovely. And I would be fine with them playing in a symphony. But I really do not like the cacophony of marching band type music - it all sounds like the same racket to me...I don't even begin to know how they go about judging marching bands.

Now that I've admitted this, watch my kid decide he wants to play in the marching band....ugh.

Of course. And so does everyone in my circle.
It's called Life. And if we meet others who share our peculiar passions, then we should consider ourselves lucky.

Figure skating - especially because I am always interested in the underdogs, the ones who never quite seem to make it to the very top tier. Lots of online places to discuss, but I don't really talk about it in real life unless someone else brings it up, like around the olympics.

My mother will occasionally go to shows with me.

Fascinated with historical cemeteries. There's a bunch here in Fairfax co and I'm constantly reading and googling about families, farms, etc.

Sorta coincides with my interest on how things got their names -like towns, streets, counties, subdivisions,

This sounds cool! I'd love to hear what towns and cities you found especially neat.

It's not like, 100% unique or anything but most people I know go to places with a destination or activity in mind whereas I just like to meander and pop in here and there to what looks cool.

Sorry, meant to quote PP. But, what places have you found most intriguing?

People act like I am an oddity. Maybe because I am a 37 to Black chick. Idk. One last told me you people don't do t hat. Oh well, I always did March to the best of my own drum.

Baking! I am now at an advanced skill level, and would love to know other people who were into the latest baking cookbook, great recipes and new techniques. If they bake from scratch, most people pretty much stick to chocolate chip cookies and cake, not that there is anything wrong that, of course.
