How many left-lane slowpokes have been fined under new Va. law?

With slower drivers getting out of the way the people with lead feet can go faster which = more opportunity for a speeding ticket.

Seems like a win win for the state.

Fine with me, as long as it keeps slow cars out of the left lane!

I am in it during rush hour (with required occupants) and f@ckers don’t move out of my way. The regular lanes are bumper to bumper and hov os moving with nobody in front of the car in front of me but they are exactly at the speed limit. Is HOV (far left) considered left lane under this? Please tell me “yes”.

No, it is not considered left lane. HOV cars do not have to move over so you can go 75 MPH.

When I’m paying $18 to go one way on HOV/hot lanes at 65moh you are not the regulator if I choose to go an extra 10mph over the speed limit.

I can't wait until the last minute to move into the left lane, since the left laners are the most aggressive and block up the spot, so I have to get in at least 3/4 mile ahead. I then have the left laners on my tail, even at 60, for the 40 seconds I'm in the lane.

Surely they won't ticket if there is a left exit up ahead, and "slower" drivers (meaning those who drive within 5 miles OVER the speed LIMIT) won't get tickets. In fact, I'd rather see them ticket the impatient left laners who tailgate because the want to go 70.

If you keep your speed at 60, tops, then you are a problem. I know it's within the law but have some common sense and go with the traffic flow. You're not being safe, you are the cause of many problems as people try to get around you.

Where did I say I was regulating what speed you could go? Your post indicated far left lane in HOV, I assumed you were talking about 66 E/W during rush hour. In the 95 express lanes, you definitely need to move over to the right to let cars pass, as there are 2 lanes in these Express Lanes.

Trust me, I stay out of the left lane. There was a 6 car pile up in the left lane of 66 East tonight near Nutley. Guess no one wanted to move over....sucks for all those other people wanting to get home from work.

Those are usually caused by someone going too slow and the chaos of everyone trying to get around him/her. Seen it many times.

Or they could speed up 10mph for 30 seconds so we wouldn’t all have 2 hour traffic for a 10mi commute.

They should move out and let faster cars pass. We paid to get home faster. Some of these f@ckers aren’t even going 55mph.

+1

I think it will even cut back on traffic jams! How many times have you been prevented from changing lanes because some dumbass is driving below the speed limit in the left lane? Happens to me st least once a week.

Exactly. That’s why there is so much more unnecessary congestion around here than other metro areas. Too many slow MFers clogging up the roads. It’s always a relief to drive in other areas where people actually move.

Put on your left turn signal so they know that you're exiting.

Yes, I definitely do that.

Right when you get in the left lane.

Yes, I do....I have my signal on as I move into the lane and then leave it on to let them know I will exit left. They still tail me. Annoying (and dangerous).

No, no. See, then they think that you just forgot to turn your signal off. You should put your signal on AFTER you get in the lane. Or, put signal on to change lanes. Turn signal off. Then turn signal back on when someone is right up behind you.

Good idea.....thanks.

What will all you aggressive drivers do when there's more autonomous vehicles on the road going the speed limit?

But the people at fault are still the ones "trying to get around." Someone else driving slowly is no excuse for unsafe driving by anyone else. If I am on the highway and get behind someone going too slowly in the left hand lane, I either safely and legally pass on the right, and if that isn't possible, I match the speed of the person blocking the lane. I don't lose my cool and act like an idiot. That's what causes accidents.

Just stay right, pass left and you'll be fine. Don't try to overthink it.

Bingo!

It's a simple rule: drive right, pass left. Why are so many drivers in this area too stupid to comprehend such a simple rule?

driving > 55 mph = aggressive?

Don't know about that. But be aware that in the Commonwealth of Virgina, driving 20 mph over the limit = reckless driving/felony.
