As someone who considers herself a pragmatic centrist without any strong ideology one way or another but generally supportive of liberalism and who also follows world affairs and issues, I can tell most of the comments on this thread say more about the poster than the actual subject. But that's typical of the political forum, unfortunately.
The accounts of Obama as told by Hilton have been quietly said by a variety of people over the years and not just Britain's David Cameron. And I must be honest here, while I admired Obama greatly at the onset, as time went on I have come to believe he genuinely is not as bright or intelligent as he thinks he is and that has been to the detriment of his presidency. He is an intelligent man, make no mistakes about that, but not a genius. Unfortunately, he was encircled by the cult of Obama and that allowed him to think himself greater than he really was. This could explain his reluctance to get dirty and fight political battles. Obamacare was created and won by the Democrats on congress (and they got walloped for it). Beyond that his presidency has been mostly speeches filled with platitudes and not much else. I actually even remember Michelle Obama at various points in the 2008 campaign being amazed by some of thing things being said about Obama and once or twice saying, err...no, he's not that special, so in retrospect I am not surprised. Obama is a vastly better man than Donald Trump ever will be, but that doesn't preclude he is simply not as great or intelligent or wise as he likely thought himself to be and the cult of Obama allowed him to hide from the reality. It's not surprising other world leaders found him frustrating and arrogant. I have read various articles from established figures commenting that Obama loves nothing more than to be at a table and talking about problems and ideological issues, but he does all the talking and doesn't seem receptive to other ideas and perspectives, and most of all, rarely proposes solutions. That could be the consequence of the euphoria that surrounded him so early on, preventing him from seeing his own limits and failings and that certainly did not help his presidency. It may be a problem that stems back to his days as a lecturer, where his job was to lecture and the students listened. |
Cameron is 100% correct about Obama. |
Do you people just comment on DCUM or do you take 2 minutes to read other replies? Y’all don’t see the rampant arrogance of everyone who offers their opinion? All y’all think you’re right all the time and none of y’all listen to anything. Arrogance is widespread and you, Them, me Obama...everybody’s got it.
HOWEVER - your boy Donald is on a whole new level with his narcissism. Dude thinks he’s a combination of Zeus the Messiah and the Last Jedi. |
Did y'all notice that the topic was Obama? A bit narcissistic of y'all to change the topic to one you prefer. |
Very Sarah Huckabee Sanders-like. ![]() |
That is sad but true about being rational... As far as Trump, yes I think it is possible for him to conspire with Russia but not want to win. Look at it this way: Trump owes Russia ( money ) and they see an opportunity to put a figurehead in place. He can't say no. So, he goes along with it figuring he would never actually win. Best case ( according to him) he gets more publicity and being seen as cooperating with Russia so they partner with him for property in Russia. Worst case ( according to him ) he wins. To make the worst case more palatable, he decides to undo everything Obama did! He never liked Obama especially after Obama made fun of him. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=k8TwRmX6zs4 |
This is the most intelligent post on here. I agree.. Obama is very eloquent and intelligent, but I never understood the legend around him. I think he thinks too much and for too long, and didn't act enough. I also agree that all world leaders to some degree are narcissists, but Trump takes it to a whole other level. It's one thing to be a narcissist, but it's another to be an immature one with no self control, which is what we have in Trump. --signed a former R |
Who cares what Cameron thinks? He is, according to the economist Martin Wolf, "arguably the worst prime minister in UK history" who "has brought the country to a crisis". |
Angela Merkel got along quite well with Obama. And actually, I think he presents as quite human no matter what kind of cult you see around him. He's someone who can actually enjoy other's company, and is genuine about it. Maybe not to the great extent that Bill Clinton did, but I believe Obama's tears and anger at Sandy Hook and have read how comforting he was whenever he met with victims of whatever man-made or natural disaster. He has a human touch that not all presidents have had, and that is a sign of emotional intelligence. I believe he held back somewhat in terms of fighting dirty fights because of not wanting to play into the stereotype of "angry, crazy black man." Can you imagine if he had pulled a single one of Trump's stunts, what the right-wing fringe in this country would have done? They'd have been shouting 25th Amendment night and day. You have to acknowledge there was a different standard for him because of his race, that he must have felt the pressure to "be a credit" and other nonsense. It's ignorant to think otherwise. Again, if Obama had tweeted just once like Trump, had just once pulled the "executive time" crap in terms of a light schedule, had called his opposition juvenile names, had rejected reading even bullet-point daily security briefing - you can rest assure he would have been pilloried as being unstable and unfit by the same people who laud Trump for doing the same thing. Also I'd like an example of a single president who didn't think he was capable of doing the job well. You have to have some amount of arrogance to even run for office. |
He would beat you at chess every time. Guaranteed. |
Well, she is my neighbor ![]() |
That doesn't mean he is now telling the truth. Plus, he was fired so may have incentive to harm Cameron. |
I am actually quite good at chess. Second, I didn't say he was dumb. I said he was a narcissistic affirmative action baby. |
I'd take Teddy Roosevelt's rough riding machismo or Andrew Jackson's schoolyard bully treatment of indigenous people any day over Donald's ridiculously egotistical attitude. The man is a spoiled prick and when you add to that his clumsy train of thought, childish tantrums, and constant need for attention/adulation there's no comparing this guy to any previous Presidents - they were at the very least adults. If anyone's a baby its Donald. |
DP. Unless Obama's ranked in the thousands, not interested. Although based on his programs, he would probably sandbag to compete against lower ranked players. … |
