Perhaps becoming a president comes with a narcissistic streak?
David Cameron’s former director of strategy has said Cameron thought Barack Obama was one of the “most narcissistic, self-absorbed people” he had ever encountered, despite the pair’s once notorious “bromance”. Steve Hilton, one of Cameron’s closest advisers before the pair fell out over immigration and Brexit last year, made the comments during the latest instalment of his show, The Next Revolution, on Fox News. He went on to emphasise the shortcomings of Trump’s predecessors, adding: “My old boss, former British prime minister David Cameron, thought Obama was one of the most narcissistic, self-absorbed people he’d ever dealt with. “Obama never listened to anyone, always thought he was smarter than every expert in the room, and treated every meeting as an opportunity to lecture everyone else. This led to real-world disasters, like Syria and the rise of Isis.” https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2018/jan/08/camerons-bromance-with-obama-a-myth-says-ex-advisor-steve-hilton |
That’s great. That’s all you got? Trump apparently conspired with Russia to win the election and is a narcissist. |
Why so sensitive? It is a report in a liberal publication in the UK |
I think it takes some narcissistic tendencies to become potus. I would be surprised if there were any past presidents who didn’t have those tendencies, at the least.
That said, Trump is a malignant narcissist. Pathological, grandiose, hostile/bully, impulsivity, lack of empathyparanoid. Classical malignant NPD. |
I think we all knew this about obama. Problem is barry never believed it about himself. |
Oh, silly OP. Of course anyone who becomes president has some delusions of grandeur and is full of himself/herself. That's to be expected of someone who thinks they are capable of being the leader of the free world.
The difference between Obama and Trump is that Obama can actually think and care about other people, and express his empathy in an intelligent and sincere way, plus he actually has the depth of mind and soul that to some extent justifies being full of himself. In other words, his intellect is intact, he has a moral compass, he truly feels others pain and joy, and he's not just an empty blowhard full of hot air. None of those things can be said about Trump. Not a single one. He's the emperor with no clothes and Republicans refuse to tell him he's naked. |
You really should know who you are citing. Steve Hilton is a Fox News pundit. He is saying what his paymaster wants to hear. |
Translation: Obama wasn’t sufficiently deferential to an Eton/Oxford elitest. |
He was very close to Cameron so he should know even if he now works with Fox |
Why would the a Russians put any effort into a candidate that, according to literally EVERY major poll, only had a 3-7% chance of winning? Why would you conspire with a candidate that the whole world knew was going to lose? |
The part about Obama thinking he was the smartest person in the room rings true. One got a sense of this even when he was responding to an interviewer ...... an attitude of intellectual superiority. |
Oh, yeah - that will get people to forget about the reported horror of the trump White House. (sarcasm)
Keep trying, OP. |
The thing is...he probably usually is. |
And a member of the Bullingdon Club at Oxford from whence came the term "bully." Mr. Cameron is a master of bullying, but his arrogance did him in with Brexit. He will go down as the bully who sunk the sinking Commonwealth. |
His mother was brilliant, so he was too. |
