I knew it was time to lose weight when...

When I went to buy a dress for a wedding and none of the pretty ones fit me. Also my birthday pictures didn't lie.

When a woman I was talking to asked if I was expecting.

Oh man...Then I just KNEW.

And when giving myself a pedicure is more pain than it’s worth.

This happened to me after my dd was born 8 years ago. I needed a size 10 dress, but all the cute ones were size 6 and under. I didn't lose weight right away, I just felt like crap about my body.

When I saw a picture of myself from behind from a trip I went on.

That was 14 months ago. Down 39 pounds. I'm "ok" with where I'm at now, but am working to lose another 10. As a bonus, my asthma had gotten really bad and it appears that was weight related as well as I've had far fewer flare ups this year.

Great job on your success thus far. Are you doing any specific activities or diet change?

I increased my activity - I walk approximately 8 miles a day now and I decreased food intake (I was nursing my last baby as I packed on the weight even more) and changed my diet a bit, mostly cut a lot of mindless starchy carbs. So where I'll still feed my family rice or pasta or something, I will sub in an extra helping of vegetables for myself.

That is awesome! I’m a runner and couldn’t do that mileage in a day. How long does it take? Although I’m very active, my feet and ankles get achy after awhile, even with supportive shoes. Keep up the good work!

I walk an hour at lunch, which covers just over 3 miles, another hour after my kids go to bed for another just over 3 miles and my walking commute between home-work-kids' schools is total of 1.5 miles, which accounts for the rest of the walking.

When my OB asked if I exercised and I said "Not really," and she said "You should start.". I wasn't technically overweight yet, but only a few pounds away and had gained about 20 lbs in the past year due to several contributing factors. It might sound like she was too brusque, but it was what I needed. When you've never been overweight, it's very easy to stay in denial that you're creeping in that direction. She snapped me right out of it. I lost that 20 lbs over the next six months or so.

When I hurt my back just walking around my house. Wasn’t lifting anything or doing some weird movement, just walking to another room.
