A family of 6 and just one large pizza?

You all are making pizza seem disgusting to me. Thanks, I guess.

My thought, too

+1 I went to a nutrition class that taught me that the appropriate serving of pizza for an adult is 1/3 of a slice. People eat too much pizza.

Well now that's just ridiculous! My debate with myself when eating a frozen pizza is whether I should eat a third of it at one sitting, or half. Dilemma! Thankfully I don't eat pizza much.

Yeah, that 1/3 of a slice seems off. 1/3 of a frozen pizza is typically a serving size with about 300 calories. But 1/3 of a slice of delivery? At kids' birthday parties and sports the slices are often cut in half. They're small. I can't imagine 1/3 a slice satisfying a teenager or adult, even with salad, veggies, etc.

I think she misheard the nutritionist. Maybe she was there for a weight loss class?

A large pepperoni pizza on normal crust is around 2800 calories.

Divide that by 8 slices and you get about 350 clories.

Divide that slice by a third and you get about 116 calories. Not a reasonable meal for a normal adult.

Family of 5 here. 3 teenage boys, all ober 6'3" two of them heading to Navy with athletic scholarships. All 3 are all American award recipients
We order 4 large pizzas and nobody is fat. Both DH and I are active duty military and have run the MCM for the last 5 years.

My boys easily eat a full pizza each. Im 42 a size 6 and can easily eat a large myself if cheese didn't upset my stomach so much.

One large for my family would be an appetizer.

You're an exception to the rule.

Literal LOL

I've never heard of the green beans poster...but I can bet you she's not fat!

At least it's not the "chicken marbella" poster.

Oh god. I made it and it was not good. At all.

Just curious...all of you who are literally saying you have like a full slice or less...do you have an eating disorder?

I ask because this is not normal. I do know of people who do this though. And every one of them has an eating disorder or weird relationships with food.

A salad is normal to eat with a pizza. My family always orders veggie pizza so we at least get some vegetables while eating it. But green beans as a side for pizza? No. And I am a skinny adult female and can eat 3 pieces easy. But definitely two every time. One slice of pizza is not enough for anyone.

I am a wasp and this was my first thought. I'm guessing you are Jewish or Catholic.

Catholic here. The first time I went to a Wasp wedding I was so confused when the food never really appeared. Just some alcohol and cake. WTF?!

I don't recall anyone saying they only eat one slice. The point is we shouldn't eat more than one. I eat two slices, but maybe once every few months.

An apple? Are you kidding? No thanks! More pizza please!

My family of five could usually eat a large pizza and be satisfied. Now, our kids are 2, 5, and 7, so probably not a good representative sample. What I hate, though, are advertised "single-serving" pizzas at restaurants that could easily feed two adults. Do people really eat entire pizzas that size (note: my husband is 6'5" and 200 pounds, so not a small guy).

The idea of eating 3-4 pieces in one sitting seems gross.

Let me guess, you've never been around teenage boys, right?

Actually I raised a son, and he never ate more than two slices. I think some people really encourage poor eating habits.

No I don't have an eating disorder. I don't eat until I feel full. I eat so I don't feel hungry. Sometimes I eat half of a second slice. That's plenty.

That seems skimpy - is one slice of pizza ever really enough, if it's not a massive slice? I like to order enough to have two meals, because it's so good for lunch the next day. So my little family of 2 gets one pizza, we each get 4 slices total and we're happy.

Yes. Especially with eating a salad in addition.

I didn't realize having just pizza for dinner was the norm until I was old enough to have sleepovers with friends and started going to bday parties.

We always had to eat a salad or veggies with our pizza. A treat was having pizza and chips.

We do a salad with pizza in my house. We do still get at least two pizzas, though, because my teenage son can easily eat 3-4 pieces after practice along with a salad.

Same here. Sometimes I'll go for two, or for the kid's crust, but one is really enough for an evening meal! No disorder here. Just don't need as many calories these days.
