2017-2018 Specialty Lottery results

Does anyone have any idea how much the wait list typically moves at Dora Kennedy? I posted above and our son is 4 on the wait list after placement of the first 90 students. I know nothing is guaranteed, but I'd appreciate if anyone had any sense of whether it might be worth sticking it out or if we should just start looking for other options. Any help is appreciated!

The likelihood of your son getting in is really, really high at #4. You should know in the next couple weeks as they make people accept quickly and you would be in the next round of letters.

For my son's sibling placement last year, it was 10 days (NOT business days) to accept the slot, or they made the assumption we were declining.

Someone on the last page said they knew someone in the 50s on the waitlist at Dora Kennedy who got a place last year! Was that an unusual year?

Also, does anyone know why they only placed 90 rather than 100? The online page states siblings are included in those numbers, and, as I understood it, the sibling lottery was first and they received the first 20-30 or so spots (not to mention an even 10 would be a strange number to reserve for siblings).

My acceptance letter says we have until the 18th to decide to enroll or forfeit our spot. I would imagine that the next rollout of letters will come around that time.

Has everyone received their letters? I received a letter for my daughter and no letter for my son. I would have thought we would have received them at the same time.

We received ours. I'd expect to have one by now, but their website says to call if you don't get one by the 21st.

"You will receive a copy of your initial lottery results via US Postal Mail.
Placement and wait list letters will be mailed on a rolling basis beginning the first week of April. Please allow one week for the mail to arrive.
If you have not received a letter regarding your placement status by April 21st, send an email to pgcps.lotteryforms@pgcps.org"

The letter I received said to return the Accept/Decline response by April 18, so if you wait until the April 21 to call is that too late?

That's true, you'd want to respond before the 18th so you'd have to get in touch before they say to!

For those interested, I called PGCPS today, the next round of placement letters are going out in May. If you have a low waiting list number, hopefully you'll know something by then.

I am hoping for a 3 year old spot at Robert Goddard Montessori. If we get in, the search will be on for after care, as it's a half day program with no transportation or after care!

Please post your lottery hopes/fears/results

My son got in to Robert Goddard for the three year old program, any luck for you?

Nope, wait list in the low 30's. I'm not hopeful but I'm waiting for the update after April 18.

The online list was supposed to update after April 18, but it still shows the old number. Any thoughts about when they will update after the first round of letters ?

I figured since it was Spring Break there wouldn't be any updates until next week or the beginning of May

My numbers have not moved either.

Does anyone know how far up the waitlist the Spanish and French pulled in previous years? Just trying to decide if we should hold out any hope.

I called the office yesterday and was told they are still working on placing the students from the first round. She said that the website may not be updated for another week or two week.
