Found Caffeine Pills

She didn't need to order it. GNC has caffeine pills. Walgreens, Rite Aid, Walmart, Dollar stores, Freds, every store including grocery stores carry them.

I hate to tell you but she's an adult, she will take them whether you know about it or not, they are not addictive. they are legal. Matter of fact, it's better than drinking that Red Bull poison.

I think it's totally insane that so many PPs think it's OK for their kids to take pills. Coffee is fine, and if you drink too much, you'll be jittery and need to pee a lot. But, if you take too many caffeine pills, you could give yourself a heart attack.

Then again, it seems that many DCUMers need pills to regulate their lives--sleeping pills, anti-anxiety pills, hormone pills, etc. I should not be surprised that they are projecting the normalcy of pill popping onto their children.

I would also be concerned about the purity and safety of the pills, and I don't think caffeine is completely harmless. In college, I developed such a bad coffee habit that I would get winded climbing a flight of stairs. My main concern would be that my daughter was feeling too stressed and pressured, and that's what I'd want to find out about. Not by confronting her, but by listening to her and asking questions.

This thread is priceless. The idea that a parent should intervene to prevent a COLLEGE student from taking caffeine pills? I don't know is how you people got to childbearing age but accumulated so little life experience. Looking forward to another pearl-clutching thread when you guys figure out there's caffeine in Red Bull.

You dipshits DO realize that if a person takes more than the recommended dose of caffeine pills, they can DIE? It is concentrated, and who knows if it is really caffeine. It warrants a talk with her. When the caffeine doesn't cut it anymore, she may try the next step which is Adderrall (and illegal if not prescribed), then cocaine.

I agree that OP shouldn't have opened it but please... it's not "illegal" to open a package that comes to your home.

You're a moron. Caffeine is not a gateway drug.
I can walk into any supermarket and buy the exact same product.

Yes! Long live Jessie.

Your daughter is an adult. Let her make adult decisions.

My motto is my house MY rules! i would reseal, then ask her about it because you saw the return address. Maybe ask for a professional opinion (doctor or pharmacist) about caffiene pills. Keep in mind that your child choose to mail these to her own home and not her dorm or a PO Box so I wouldn't freak out.

I agree with this.

I also think it's curious that she had the pills addressed to her home, as though she wanted you to find them. Why not have them shipped to her school address? Does she really need them during the Christmas break?

You can die from taking more ham the prescribed dose of many, many things. That's why only adults should be in charge of pills. She's an adult.

Exactly! Tylenol is actually pretty dangerous if you take too much. Seriously OP, you need to get a grip.

I think the only "dipshit" here is you....please go educate yourself on what these pills are. You can also overdose on salt, hope you keep that under lock and key PP. She is an adult, not a child. Assuming she has more sense than you, I think she will be fine!

Every single person I knew in college took caffeine pills. I still do on occasion and I am a very healthy, high-functioning adult. Besides, she mailed them to your house! Clearly she wasn't that concerned about keeping them a big secret.

Maybe you missed the part where she's not a kid? She's a grown adult.

Right, but she's not independent. Also, I find number of pill-dependent posters here remarkably high. I went to Chicago for undergrad and grad school--and I seriously didn't know of a single person who took caffeine pills. We drank a lot of coffee and tea, but no pills. Red Bull was a "party" drink (usually mixed with vodka).

Caffeine is ABSOLUTELY addicting, and yes it most certainly is a "gateway" because of its intended purpose which is to stimulate, to stay awake for long periods of time to keep studying/working, and to "keep going." One or two here and there, no big deal. 3 or 4 daily, then adderall when the caffeine doesn't work anymore, is a drug problem. And college kids will absolutely use caffeine if/when they can't get adderall. so they get hooked on stimulants to keep going, then binge drink to "come down." Honestly, didn't anyone here go to college?
