Its a curious ad. I wonder who the target market is...Dems will like it, but they are not voting for Trump and it will make the Republicans base more supportive of Trump. Sound bites of attacks on Trump from people the republicans base has resoundingly rejected and think of as the problem will actually strengthen Trump. So what is the purpose of the ad...to make democrats feel better? its really a waste of resources. The time and money could have been spent better else where.

1. To remind Republicans who are fence sitting about rallying around Trump (that is about half of all GOP primary voters - True Cons, NeoCons, moderates, etc) about what is wrong with Trump, as voiced by their own 2. To let any Repubs and Repub leaning independents who have not been paying attention know how bad Trump is, as voiced by their own 3. To pressure the GOP leaders to not endorse Trump, or else look like fools. 4. To put Trump back on the defensive - not let him bask in "rallying around"

While Bernie supporters and independents are like -- see Hillary has always been in bed with neo cons, true cons. Hillary is raising money now from the never trump folks.

Is Hillary really a progressive when many #Iamwithher right wing nuts support her? This ad just reinforced that Hillary is another neo con -- she is not that different from Bush.

Your characterizations of HRC say a Hell of a lot more about you than they do about her.

When push comes to shove, they will vote for him not because they like him or think he is the most qualified but because they detest Hillary with a passion.

I am a liberal and I would never vote for her under any circumstances and I assure you I am not the only one who feels that way. I know several people like myself who have voted for Democratic candidates repeatedly who will not vote for her.

The crying shame, if we lose this election, is that there are several well qualified candidates like Tim Kaine, Mark Warner and others who would have attracted the votes of quite a few moderate Republicans as well as independents against Trump. Instead we are all set to nominate a candidate who is polarizing, is distrusted by the majority of the electorate including many Democrats and has changed her positions repeatedly over the years.

As a pretty conservative Republican, I totally agree with your last paragraph.
But, you know, it’s Hillary’s turn. Or, so some people think.

Suggest you go listen to her original speech. It was not out of context. Yes, she said we did need to do more for the miners--but she wants to end the coal jobs--that much is clear. You are listening to her later spin.

Actually, she was acknowledging the reality that coal jobs will only decline. Of course, I've noticed acknowledging reality isn't exactly the GOP's strong point, especially when it comes to energy and environmental issues.

It looks like Hillary is going to walk a very fine line in the general. She is going to have to determine whether she has a better chance of gaining the support of deeply disappointed (borderline heartbroken) Sanders supporters like myself; or middle of the road independents and Republicans. I don't know how she is going to pull this off. Sanders would have lost very few Dems and gained a ton of independents as well as disgruntled Republicans. Hillary might as well just make her campaign slogan "NOT TRUMP" and call it a day because very few people actually like her or agree with her.

Come on, this statement is so contrived and unreal that's it's beyond laughable. Republicans voting for a socialist! In what universe? Heck, you would have problems getting some moderate democrats to vote for a socialist, and you think republicans would. Jokes on you PP.

If that is the case then why does this exist? https://www.facebook.com/republicansforbernie/?fref=ts

There are 26, 651 "likes" for that page. I believe the joke is on you. Whether or not Republicans like his policies is not the issue. People trust him and they believe he sincerely wants to help the working class. A quote from the Republicans for Sanders page which sums it up:

FAQs about Republicans for Bernie Sanders...
'As a Republican, how can you possibly agree with Bernie on every issue?'
Speaking only for myself (the page administrator), the truth is that I don't. Can any of us actually claim that? There are some issues on which I am to his "right," and at least one issue on which I am to his "left." But then hey, Bernie Sanders may be deemed to be to the right of Hillary Clinton on a couple matters as well. It sort of seems like only a narcissist would demand a politician who agrees with him/her on every point. Good politics are about honesty and compromise, and there may be no politician alive who understands this better than Bernie.

Sorry, but no, the joke is on you.

What is problematical is the glee with which she talked about eliminating the coal industry and throwing miners out of jobs.

She can go on about things being taken out of context and making a misstatement but that one clip shows her for what her attitude is to people who are going to lose their jobs. I have no doubt that was how she viewed the millions of jobs in the US that were lost because of the trade deals that she supported. Basically, she does not give a shit which is why she has a problem raising the minimum wage to $15.

but you already thought that way. The question is whether it will change any votes. I suspect not.

I'm not the audience. Again, independents and moderate Republicans are the audience. Especially women.

It is a democratic feel good ad. Most of the people in the video will endorse Trump and quickly put the primary behind them. This does nothing to build the image of Hillary. Sorry another bad play by Hillary.

It worked for me simply because I will be voting for Clinton ONLY on the basis if her not being Trump. There is no other reason.

And that is only if my hand does not escape me and suddenly, accidentally write in Sanders.

If you vote for Donald Trump, you're voting for this:

https://amp.twimg.com/v/98967993-2cd7-4936-87bb-9cedcffe7ca8

And millions of people will vote for him. But I believe millions more will say that bigotry, xenophobia and misogyny are not American values, and that they don't want this man holding the nuclear codes or representing the United States abroad. And they will do whatever they can to keep them out of the White House.

So negative ads are suddenly not effective because they don't build the image of their candidate???

Meh, it's not an ad that is going to resonate enough with the Trump supporters. So a bunch of Republicans don't like him? Big deal.

Try and keep in mind this election season that the masses of adult Americans are not represented here on DCUM. They are living paycheck to paycheck lives without a college degree.

Everyone knows that you cannot turn the Trump supporters. Clinton is trying to influence those who are undecided and also those Bernie supporters who are threatening to vote for Trump in protest. She needs to do everything she can to remind Bernie supporters that Trump is a lunatic. I have had reasonable people try to explain to me that Trump would be better than Clinton. It is a bizarre thing but it is a real threat and everyone needs to take this seriously.

And a lot of people agree with her on the need to shift away from coal.
