S/o places you have no desire to go to?

Any third world country, including the Caribbean. I don't understand flaunting your first world lifestyle there.

NYC.

Fwiw, a weekend in Vegas is fun, just like a weekend in New Orleans is fun. If you've never been, I encourage you to give it a try.

England? It's pretty awesome.

Fairhope, AL is quite charming and a lovely spot for a trip.

I can't remember the name of the town in Germany, but there's a Christmas market there in a walled city that literally looks like an old world North Pole. I think it begins with an L.

India --I'm scared of human poop in the open.
Vegas--never been, no desire to go
Cruises--just no appeal at all

Re cruises - they are super easy and relaxing. Nothing to research and no need to plan anything. Unpack once, and have an opportunity to visit a number of places...or not...you can choose to lay on a deck chair read, drink, and nap in the sun. No need to carry a wallet since everything is already paid for. Can't decide between the lobster or steak? Order both...at no extra cost. Feel like watching the evening show? Simply show up...or not...your choice.

We were very anti cruise until we actually took one. Now we can appreciate the appeal. I have a colleague who books last minute cruises a couple times a year to "nap." He ends up doing much more than that, but that's his premise...to get away and not have to worry about anything.

Not trying to start a fight, but are you really visiting other places or just getting off at the port & seeing the cruise ship version of that location. Seems like driving on I95 and claiming that stopping off at a highway exit to eat dinner is like visiting that city/town/state. Also, don't you usually have to make reservations for things like the "evening show"?

that said, I would totally do one of the river cruises, you seemed more immersed in the locale.

Japan -- the culture is very hostile to women and fish

most of the middle east (violence, attitude towards women, no religious freedom and very limited freedom of speech)
the rainforests (snakes and bugs bigger than me freaks me out)
Mount Everest (too high and too much work to get to the top)
That building in Chicago with the glass floor.

+1

And Asia. Too crowded, don't find it interesting, don't like the food.

Try some of the higher end cruise lines, they go to more exotic ports, and stay a few days.

Also, great way to introduce younger kids to part of Europe. We saw Athens, Olympus, Ephesus, Mykonos, and Rhodes with out 6-12 year old kids. They could sightsee all day and then hang out doing kid stuff at night.

But I hear you. Not for everyone.

Anonymous wrote:I would love to visit China...BUT, and this is a big but, my sister went for a multi month business trip and her hair started falling out. It was on the top front too. Fortunately it came back after she returned to the states, but still.

They went to industrial areas and stayed in nice hotels.

She also said those areas did not have birds because the polution has killed off the bugs and tye ecosystem is dying from the bottom up.

So, until China fixes its polution issue and starts csring at least a tiny bit about the world, no China for me.

Wow, China was on my no-go list, because the government is so corrupt and untrustworthy. Thanks for your post.
