My stalker on dcum likes to refer to Julian Castro as "Julianito" and as unaccomplished.

This is no different from racists' practice of calling grown black men "boy."

It is no different from the practice of calling black and brown men unaccomplished even when the reach the highest echelons of education and professional achievement.

This is racists' standard operating procedure.

Degrees from Stanford and Harvard! Why didn't you say so earlier? Of course, that gives him the experience to be president.

As PPs have pointed out, the San Antonio mayor's post is part-time, largely ceremonial and rather devoid of any power. This is known as a weak mayor" system. Power lies with the city council and executive authority with a city manager who is under the council. One can speculate about how and why Castro was appointed to HUD, but he can't do much harm there because it's been a bureaucratic backwater for almost ever.

Degrees and position titles are fine and good, but what exactly has Castro "accomplished" in the offices he's held?

Racists believe in white supremacy.

Jordan and Gandhi shatter their world view.

So does Julain Castro.

Hitler didn't believe Jessie Owens was genetically able to beat his aryan athletes at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin.

Republicans didn't believe Obama was qualified to or could beat john mccain in the 2008 election.

Republicans didn't believe Obama was qualified to or could beat mitt romney in the 2012 election.

Republicans don't believe Castro is qualified to be VP in 2016.

Things haven't changed that much in the world of racists.

We keep waiting for Castro's flack to enlighten us about his "accomplishments" in public office.

Maybe she'd like to take a few weeks to try to think of something, especially because she probably has a psychology paper or something due on Monday.

Yeah, I am sure racists love Jordan and Gandhi.

I have actually been shocked that people on DCUM attacked Gandhi when I argued that we should think about his ideas on non-violence.

The attacks were in the vein that Gandhi's views were invalid because he is not an American.

And let's not forget that the racists HATED Martin Luther King until it became socially unacceptable to do so in public.

Sorry, but I don't get the notion that Castro should be VP on a national ticket, when it's highly doubtful that he could even win statewide office in his home state of Texas. What's Spanish for "delusional chutzpah"?
