Yes it is! No responses at all. We shall see when the results are released.

Last year the schools with the longest wait lists had over 1,300 kids in all their grades. I think some schools had PK3 waitlists of over 600. So there are a lot more than those who post on here.

Last year there were 4,250 PK3 applicants in the lottery, 2,506 PK4, 1,575 K, et.c

Interesting that you would put Marie Reed (Spanish, I presume) over Stokes. Do you live near MR?

What?! You mean there are more than 15 DCUM posters playing the PK4 lottery?!

LAMB was a separate lottery

Yes, I know. That reflects our consolidated order of preference for public and charters schools.

Holy something, more than half as many PK4 entered the lottery as PK3????? But schools only have 3-4 spots if any for PK4, compared to 15-40+! I thought it would be a tad easier this year to get in somewhere!

I thought it was 6 with plans to extend charter for middle school? There was a mention of hs at an early orientation last year, but I took that as just dreaming (lots of admin/staff/patent enthusiasm but I don't see hs happening unless there is some kind of experiential learning feeder plan involving multiple schools like IT and Rivers and CM etc.)

It would sort of make sense if there was some effort to create a Montessori charter for middle/high school. There are number of charter (and public) Montessori programs in DC and right now they get through elementary school and are just... done. Have to switch to a totally different method of instruction.

The admin team at Lee have expressed their wish to team up with other Montessori schools to create a Montessori middle/high school that they all feed in to.

The burst of PK4 applications is doubtless driven in part by Ward 3 families, who did not play the PK3 lottery (at least not for their IB schools).

Isn't the only option to team up with at this point Shining Stars?

Could LAMB feed to both a Montessori HS and DCI?

I second the statement about the Lee admin team having expressed their wish to create a Montessori HS. At their final open house this year, they said that, and when a prospective parent commented "like a Montessori equivalent to DCI?", they agreed.

Ahh, of course. So the questions become how many Ward 3 PK4 spots are being fought over, and how many PK4 lottery lists have 2 items only, i.e. MV and YY. Just trying to reassure myself that I have a chance of moving my EOTP kid from debt-deepening private PS to a good EOTP option off our list.

As someone not currently at A deal, DCI, or Montessri Feeder, would love this option! I don't see the PCSB approving any other charter middles/high schools though if they get they're act together and work with DCPS. Why to talk to Brookland Middle about a montessori program?
