Well, Eaton families no longer have proximity preference under the new system, so there is still hope.

No one should give up hope. We are getting more IB each year but there are still usually several OOB spots, and we also usually see some shuffling in the first few weeks of school when the Janney/Murch/Stoddert IB kids who didn't get in to their schools initially get last-minute slots.

Non-scientific sampling of data at Hearst Open Houses this year - a LOT of IB families including some who have previously ( w/ older child) been at privates. Last year about 60% of the PK 4 lottery spots went to combination of IB and proximity applicants. Based on what we've seen at open houses this year I'd be quite surprised if IB spots were less than 60/65% again this year. What's not to like right? great energetic principal, beautiful new facilities, active parent community, small school, secure path to Deal.

Thanks! We are considering trying to buy something on the Hearst side of McLean Gardens next year so we would have a guarantee for K. Loved, loved, LOVED the school!

Same here, mainly because we submitted our lottery application right when the lottery opened. The more that I think about it (and the more I think about the tech focus at DCI), the less likely we are to leave Lee. It's been great for my child so far.

The definition of proximity changed. Unless Eaton families live more than a half mile from Eaton and are less than a half mile to Hearst, they don't qualify anymore.

New renovation, it's 3 blocks from my house, I liked the outdoor space and it would get my child the Deal feed since we lost it in the boundary review.

We are an EOTP family who attended Hearst years ago. It was a hidden gem for some years, but I guess not anymore. My 9th grader at Wilson had a great experience there and Deal.
