Did I screw this mom over?

Cake pops are among the dumbest things ever. But pay her promptly. Very weird not do.

WOW -- OP!

oh good grief Op

This in no way is real. No way is someone this stupid to think someone (a parent no less) has free time to make cake pops and cookies for a party just because OP is awesome.

$1 a pop is the lowest I have ever seen from a bussiness. I can't believe you think that is high. Are you just a super cheap person? I'd love for you to share the business so she can get some bussiness from me!

My spidey sense thinks there is a troll on holiday today and is coming up with crazy scenarios

So report them to Jeff

I think this one is real, but the movie theater is fake.

Would be funny if they were the same OP.

OP,
You had never met this mom before and (regardless of her having a business) you just assumed that some new acquaintance would bake cake pops for your DS and deliver them to your party???? Wow!
You have great advice above---apologize and have her invoice you and yes, pay that total.

Guess you've never seen a preschooler waste 2/3 of a regular cupcake (and get about 1/3 in their hair, on their face, smeared into their clothing).

Seriously! Wow. I'm shaking my head at you OP.

Anonymous wrote:All of you, nearly unanimously, say pay her. I think it's pretty funny. OP can't pay her if she never receives a bill, invoice, offhand mention of estimate, etc. It's not OP's responsibility to graciously and tactfully ask her friend how much money to give her.

While OP probably does owe the "friend" some money, it's incredibly tacky for the friend to make the cake pops and expect to get paid for them, without having mentioned it first. Once OP has settled with the friend, that's the last I'd ever speak to her. And forget a good review or recommendations.

B*** please! Cake Pop Polly may have not intended to get paid, but OP is not good friends with her and should have OFFERED, OFFERED, OFFERED!!!!!!
I have a good friend who is a caterer and she offered to make some things (including cake pops) for DH's birthday. I OFFERED,more than once, to pay her because she does this for a living. She insisted that this was her gift, so she did not want payment. OP did not even have enough sense to offer. I'm going to try that at Georgetown cupcakes next time, and see how that turns out.
Sheesh!

We had a similar issue when a friend offered to help put some #s on some jerseys when we were having a hard time finding a specific thing. He insisted, we sent the shirts over, they came back ASAP with a bill for a lot of money! We paid it, but we were a little annoyed.

Totally different scenario.
1) you already said no, could have stuck to no

2) should have asked how much when they insisted, their insistence being a big fat clue you were going to get a bill

Why wouldn't she charge? Did you tell her the date of the party? Of course you should pay her. Tell her you are sorry, it slipped your mind and ask what you owe.

Sounds like this was a lesson to both of you. Yikes.

Actually kind of cheap. I've seen many for 3.00 a pop.

Agree. That is super cheap. I've never seen them that low.
