I think everyone is hearing from Beauvoir b/c they are one of the few that sent out letters yet.

It is odd but I do know lots more kids from over the past few years who were accepted at the best schools who did not get 99%, or 98% or 97% etc... and I know lots of 99%-ers who were rejected. That anecdotal evidence combined with the thought that it seems impossible to have such a high concentration of 99th scorers in one city makes me wonder if perhapos not every tester on the school lists is actual trusted or well-regarded by certain schools. Maybe there are suspicions that certain testers inflate scores? Both pieces of info just seem really off.

We didn't have to apply anywhere this year but I was lookiong to see if people were posting about STA/NCS or Landon and Holton. I sat next to a mom at a sport clinic today who's son was accepted at Landon for 3rd.

I was part of that earlier thread where some people were claiming a 99% WPPSI score might be a negative. I thought it was horseshit then, and I think it's horseshit now. Other people who seemed thoughtful and intelligent disagreed with me, so I give them some credit, but I still think it's not a negative.

FWIW, we were told outright by one AD that it was a negative to be too far above 99%. DC had a 99.8 WPPSI (and yes, 99.8 is much higher than 99% because of how it's normed) and that was definitely a negative. I assume that if one AD told us that, it is also true for other schools as well.

Beauvoir is a Big 3 and many people received acceptance letters today from them. I thought I read March 6th for the others.

Fair enough. Not consistent with my personal experience though. I guess the bottom line is that parents of above-99% kids should not pre-judge the issue either way.
