Do you wear make-up every day?

Anonymous
I wear makeup every work day. I use a lot of products, but all are neutral/natural shades and lightly applied. Foundation or tinted moisturizer, translucent powder (I hate the cakey look of normal powder, but need something to set the foundation and minimize shine), neutral shadow, eyeliner and brow pencil (brushed in so no hard lines), mascara, lipstick or lip stain.

Weekends - normally tinted moisturizer, mascara and a bit of lip stain, but it depends. If we're heading out for a hike/picnic or something, I won't wear any makeup.

No mascara? Seriously? That is so weird. Start wearing mascara - if I saw someone wearing a full face of makeup, including eyeliner (and lip liner? Really? It's not the 80's) but no mascara, I'd assume she forgot to apply it. It looks so unfinished.

I'm not usually one of the judgmental people on here, but that just strikes me as so strange.

I don't wear mascara because it flakes off (I wear contacts and blink a lot) and sticks to my undereye concealer.

I don't have a job where I need to look particularly professional/put together (typical work outfit for me is leggings and a hoodie), so I usually wear makeup but might skip a day or two each week. If I do wear makeup, it's foundation and powder (I have awful skin that needs all the help it can get), blush, eyeliner and mascara.

If I'm going out on the weekend I'll add eyeshadow, switch to liquid liner. I never wear lip products - love my natural lip colour.

NP here. You had crappy mascara then. Not judging, just saying. There's several different types of mascara, and some are compatible with wearing contacts. Tubing mascara, for example, or you might try some formulated for sensitive eyes, like Neutrogena. I have very long lashes and it just looks weirdly unfinished if I have on a full face and leave it off.

I wear light foundation and mascara every day no matter what. And a bit heavier make-up for going out.

Currently I'm not wearing any. Like a doofus, I fell asleep with my face on and immediately had a horrendous break out. Normally, I wear at least Tinted Moisturizer/BB Cream, Mascara, Blush, and Tinted Lip Balm if I have to leave the house.

I rarely wear makeup. It's just that 5 min thing per day I hate doing. Wish I would wear it daily but I'm lazy. I sah so most of the day no one really sees me.

I wear touch up on my chin where I have done redness from old acne scars, pressed powder, blush and a tinted lip balm every day. When I am dressing up I add a natural eye shadow on my lid and in the crease, with eyeliner and mascara, plus lipstick. I haven't figured out how to apply foundation without it being noticeable so I don't wear it but I probably should. I'm 43.

I'm 35 and recently started making an effort everyday. I have options for when I have more time vs less. It makes a huge difference when I catch myself in the mirror throughout the day. And I feel better too!

Im 29. I always wear full makeup, every day. Since having kids I wear glasses instead of contacts. I am the only woman in my office who wears full makeup though. I think our receptionist wears some mascara sometimes.

Most days, I wear tinted moisturizer, tinted chapstick or lip balm, and a bit of rouge. Occasionally mascara or a lip stain. I prefer the minimalist look, and don't like looking like I'm actually wearing makeup.

But I have no problem doing things like running errands without absolutely nothing on my face.

Agree. I know many women with contacts who wear mascara with no problem.

What foundation, if any, do you use? I'm always trying to find a barely noticeable foundation. The ones I've tried seem so heavy.

Try a tinted moisturizer with sunscreen or a BB cream. I think actual "foundation" is very dated. Most women I know wear the lighter versions I mentioned and see them partially as skin care. For high end look at Bobbi Brown's tinted moisturizer, for cheaper choice try Neutrogena's BB cream. I use both and love both. The BB cream is slightly heavier.

I do think everyone needs a little color on their faces (tinted sunscreen is perfect) and I have never met anyone who looks as good without mascara as they do with it. AS for lips, during a normal day, a colored gloss is also all you really need - not too shiny/goopy but with a bit of natural color. And, if you have super oily skin like I do, a little powder never hurts. I only use blush and eyeshadow for evenings out. A bit of bronzer though is nice and can double as a light powder.

I love make up but it has to be done correctly. It should merely enhance your natural features never mask or change them.

Thanks!

I'd like to give both products your recommended a try. I wear sunscreen daily (I freckle easily) with a light lip color and mascara, but my skin tone is a little uneven so I need something to even it out. What tinted sunscreen do you use?

I might wear makeup more often if I knew how to apply it without taking hours... Never was a girly girl.

If I'm feeling particularly fancy, I'll add some colored lipstick to my "Supernatural" tinted moisturizer/sunblock!

And clothes are completely artificial.

Yes, I usually do. I have very dark circles, so I usually slap a little concealer on and some neutral lipstick. That's usually the bare minimum for me, although today I just flat out forgot.

Won't get arrested being makeup free in public........

Be free of your clothes, artificiality obsessed poster! You didn't say anything about getting arrested, you just said that "makeup = fake" as though 95% of the way we live our lives is "authentic." Destroy all the books! Ruin the televisions! Throw away your phone! Get rid of your silverware - our fingers worked perfectly for a million years, who are we to pretend? Your cellphone must be lost!
