I rarely wear make-up but just read a blog post where someone described feeling "unprofessional" if they don't wear makeup. I recently turned 40 and suddenly feel that I look much older. I wonder if I should wear make up regularly (though my skin is pretty good - it would make my eyes stand out better and perhaps look less tired). I also don't dye my hair and have definitely got more gray lately and have now realized that most people around me have been dying their hair since their early 30s.
Is make-up every day the norm? |
|
I almost never wear makeup. If I remember, I swipe on some lipstick while on the bus going to work. That's it.
I do dye my hair because I have brown hair and a lot of gray around the hairline in the front. |

No. Zero.
I realized a few years ago that the reason I needed makeup was because my skin had imperfections from always being covered up and clogged by makeup. So I quit using makeup, and wha-la! My skin is fine. |

Do you mean concealor and foundation, or makeup generally?
On days I work at the office, I wear full makeup (including foundation and concealor to even out skin tone and disguise undereye darkness). On days I do not work at the office, I tend to use just a little concealor plus eye makeup and some lip gloss. I started highlighting my hair when I was about 36yo, and coloring when I was about 45. I'm 53yo. |
| Yes, full face too. |
| I haven't left the house without makeup since I was 13. And for the record, you would barely notice that I have it on except for lip gloss, mascara, and a little eyeliner. |
| Yes, every day. |
| No make up here. |
| No. Hardly ever. If I am going out somewhere nice or with friends I will put on eye liner and mascara, but that is it. I am allergic to most foundation/powders. If I hug someone who is wearing it, I always seem to break out in hives. |
| Yes, I just started when I was 40 but very light makeup and no lipstick or gloss. |
| I never wear makeup. Never, ever, not any. I'm 46. |

most work days: eyeliner & mascara, tinted lip balm
weekend days: mascara, tinted lip balm when I'm in dire need of a vacation and look like crap: add sheer foundation, concealer, bronzer, blush to the work day routine. I do look more polished with some foundation. I haven't really mastered concealer, so it can actually make things worse sometimes. Clean eating, exercise and decent sleep do more for me than concealer, but that's not always possible. |
| Rarely. |
