Situation at Subway - was I wrong?

I bet they don't get paid a minute after 8:00 p.m.

There is no way. If that was the case the store would close at 7:30pm. You can't just be done closing up and walking out the door at 8pm when the place closes at 8pm.

Thanks for the laugh. lol I'll give you the obnoxious comment though. Maybe I was obnoxious in insisitng they let me in. I dont think I was but I posed the question "was I wrong" because I am absolutley open to the possibility that I was. Thus, I wanted other people's opinion.

No I wasnt going to DIE without subway but I was pretty desparate. My son has training sessions that are 50 minutes from my house. The sessions are from 7:30 to 10pm. Usually I pack a dinner that he can eat on the way home since we dont get back home until 10pm. I was rushing and didnt have time yesterday so I decided to stop at subway since it's close to where he trains. So yeah, I was pretty desparate to get that subway sanchwich. We do not eat meat so other fast food places arent an option.

Typically I probably would have just kept it moving but because of the situation I really needed to get him a sandwich. When we leave his training we do pass a McDonalds on the way to the highway but none of their sandwiches would work for my son.

I wish there was a chipotle where we were, he loves that much more than subway!

7-11. Open 24 hours a day. They sell plenty of food.

Sure, you HOPE you can close early, and you can start the process in the HOPES that someone isn't coming, but anyone who works fast food knows you don't go home at 8 pm if the store closes at 8 pm. You lock the doors at 8 pm and THEN clean up. You sure as shit don't refuse customers at 7:53. That's insane.

No, you didn't work fast food or retail because if you did, you would know that managers are the ones who suggest this all the time.

Why were you feeding your son so late? That's really late to eat and then go run around the field.

+1. This is correct.

OP, they were wrong to have the doors closed and locked before 8 PM.

Pay no attention to the nasty PPs. See how many replies your OP has gotten in such a short time? Some people on here LOVE to see threads with "was I wrong?" in the subject line. They will jump on you regardless of the issue. If you had posted from the perspective of the Subway worker (e.g., "guess what, last night someone actually wanted to buy something at 755PM, I had locked the door even though we're open until 8PM, was I wrong, etc") you'd better believe that everyone would be saying that she was wrong.

This is exactly what McDs drive thru is great for. And they're open til 1am.

If you have so few problems that you count this as a big enough one to get on DCUM and spend time on, then count your blessings.

They were both wrong.

What? Who in their right mind comes to DCUM with big problems?

It's all been explained already. He was eating AFTER his training got over at 9pm. Not eating and then going to training.

We love Wendy's for emergency drive thru.

this is bull shit, the last order is taken at 8pm and door locked then. Workers are paid to be there at least 30min-1 hour after 8pm to close up.

I don't think it's that big of a deal to ask to be let in at 7:55, although I think giving the kids attitude about it and continuing to tell them (and us) that you were in the right is obnoxious.

Why do you still care? Let it go.
