No, like McDonald's or Burger King or other large chains that are managed by corporations and have more standard procedures. Subway, although ubiquitous, is a small chain because it is franchised and each individual store may be a separate entity run by its own autonomous management that will make its own local policies. You may occasionally get franchises that own multiple shops, but rarely more than a small handful. Most are owned individually or in pairs. As such, the operating standards may vary quite a bit from shop to shop. Restaurants that are corporately or regionally owned and managed are much more likely to have consistent and reliable operating policies. A Subway has more in common with a small single Mom & Pop restaurant than it does with McDonald's.

I'm not OP and I agree with her. Are you suggesting that those who disagree with this store's early closing are unreasonable?

I'll respond for OP: You should read the whole thread. Actually she was sitting in the parking lot for 15 minutes talking to her mom on the phone. So it was her own fault actually.

Wait a second - if you dropped your son off at 7:15, talked to MIL for 15 minutes, and got to the store at 7:55, that means it took you 25 minutes -- from 7:15 to 7:40 -- to get to the subway, or else you were prattling on to MIL for a whole lot longer than 15 minutes.

It could have been longer, I wasn't timing it. It felt like 15 minutes or so. This is pretty irrelevant anyway. The point is I got to the store 6 minutes before closing.

No the point is that you sat in your car and ran your mouth for so long you had 5 minutes til close to saunter in and order a sandwich. Then because you knew you were wrong you came on here looking for absolution and subtly tweaking your story so that you'll come across as more sympathetic. Reality is, you're the sort of obnoxious customer that most cashiers and food service workers hate.

I'm not OP either and I agree with her. There are plenty of posts that aren't hers and think the behavior of the workers was ridiculous. If you don't want a job, or have the proper work ethic, quit.

No sorry. Anyone who's had to work in the food industry probably has some sympathy for the people that come in at the last minute, and then sit around eating for another 45 minutes, meaning you can't go home - and if it is similar to when I worked - you often didnt' get paid after closing. And while I may be upset if a place closes early, I'd never make a food establishment open back up. I'd assumed they would have started cleaning and me ordering food would mean they would have to redo all that cleaning.
