Congrats to Maryland to making it to #55. According to College Data, UVA's entering class has significantly higher GPAs and SAT scores than Maryland's. So the ranking difference is no surprise. Maryland is more on par with a George Mason or James Madison- type Virginia School.
Nice try claiming Hopkins is a "public-private" school. Uh, no. JHU is private. Anecdotally, I have a nephew who graduated from Hopkins two years ago who is still looking for a job and a neighbor who graduated from Radford the same year who is gainfully employed by the Federal Government as a writer. |

Why does the US News and World Report do anything? Those rankings are so arbitrary and dumb. Look around, lots of admissions officers themselves denounce rankings as a valid way to compare schools. |

UVA Medical School ranking:
#25 Best Research, #19 Best Primary Care. UMD Medical School rankings: #37 Best Research, #71 Best Primary Care. Stop trying to make yourself feel better because you didn't get into med school at UVA and instead had to opt for UMD. Let's not forget that Huguely was from Maryland, as was his victim Love. P.S.- Just last week a group of 200 people converged at the UMD McDonald's in College Park where someone shot a gun into the crowd. |

all of it included in the violent crime stats of CP which is 6 x less than charlottesville LOL. Uva is below Umd in the all world rankings due to lack of rigorous majors and poor performance in Nobels or impact of graduates. US News still respects people who sit around thinking how great it would be to return to the plantation. The world doesn't. |

Umd is located inside the nations capital beltway. with on campus installations of NASA, NOAA, Homeland security, The national archives, The National physics institute, The international foreign languages institute, The National weather prediction center. Thats why there are so many nobel graduates and professors at Umd.
Uva is located in violent charlottesville (check the horrifying stats) with zippy in nobels or impact. VT....welll...is just sad. |
