Yes, there are many of us on the board, and yes, there are more than one of whom you consider ranting, i.e. "don't agree with you." The whole thread was completely hijacked by religious folks who actually took it seriously. Are you all really that one-dimensional that you lack all humor?

Way to twist a post. 12:28 was criticizing YOUR OWN lecturing. You lectured the rest of us about deviating from OP's original intentions, which is pretty laughable because this happens on DCUM all the time....

Outta here. Between the post-twistings (like yours) and the outright insults, you atheists seem like a nasty bunch to talk to.

I am the OP, so I think I know my own intentions, but nice try.

Wow! You're saying that nobody is ever allowed to deviate from an OP's original intentions? On any DCUM thread, ever? I see this happen all the time, so this rule must be new. When does this rule start?

You're not very bright, are you?

Well, I'm the OP, so I can tell you what my goal was so you don't have to guess. I thought it was funny. That's all. I think the way it was phrased was funny. That's all. I thought other people might find it amusing. That's all. I can tell you what my goal wasn't. To actually debate the topic. But if you all want to, please go ahead. I'm sorry that you are incapable of seeing the humor in the article. I hope the New York Times article was more to your liking. I hadn't seen it, but I read it here and I hope that speaks to you more in your own language because it wasn't funny at all, was it?

It's fine that you personally don't. That's great. But it's not what the bible says, right? Or are you finding exceptions?

Several of us (at least one other person besides me) pointed out that Jesus never said that. The second post in this thread says that Jesus repudiated all the stuff in Leviticus, including the stuff about homosexuality.

It would help if you read what EVERYBODY writes, instead of zeroing in, and stoking your sense of outrage, on the few fundamentalist nutcases.

But they're so fun to poke fun at. If a post doesn't apply to you, ignore it and move on. Why take offense to something that isn't directed at you or your position? That's like me getting all upset because someone replied to the post above mine. It wasn't directed at me. I don't worry about it. Calm down. It's all going to be OK.

What's with all the atheist "gotcha" games? Please stop.

1. You can't make broad-brush statements deriding all belief as "crap" and "fairy tales" and then jump on us for taking offense because "it wasn't directed at us, just at the fundamentalists."

2. My post is very calm, go back and re-read it. It's the atheists here who are using words like "crap" and "fairy tales."

Honestly, it's not the believers who come off as the manipulative crazies on this thread, it's the atheists.

I'm outta here too. You guys are just looking for some "fun" to be had in manipulating people, and the manipulation extends from outright insults to sleazy word games.

Uhh... this kind of manipulation is the definition of trolling.

She's totally right. Try re-reading it a few times.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Really? Were you there? Oh, you're relying on a book. That some men wrote. A long time ago. I'm sorry, when someone says with a straight face "Jesus never said that" I have to just laugh my ass off. That was too funny. Thanks for the belly laugh.

Yep, the self-pity and heroic sense of victimization is pretty cloying.

Awwww, poor widdle trolly.... Is nobody coming out to play with you?

Maybe if you didn't have such lame comebacks, people would be more interested in engaging with you. Seriously.

C'mon now! Who cares whether Jesus said it or not. THE BIBLE IS THE DIVINELY INSPIRED WORD OF GOD!!! Are you really going to shrug the foundational text of your entire metaphysical worldview with a "Meh. Well, that's not a direct quote from Jesus.."

Anyway, it's not our fault that we've had forty years of silence by Christians in the face of the most horrible, disgusting folks representing the public face of Christianity. If you want to redeem the "brand" start by getting your own house in order.

Realizing also, of course, that many of us think ALL of you are fundamentalist nutcases. There really isn't a distinction, despite your wanting to distance yourself from them. You aren't "sort of pregnant." You're all in. And you sound ri-damn-diculous sitting there quoting what Jesus said.

Seriously, there must be half a dozen people here who think PP is ridiculous. It's only their ego that shrinks the chorus down to one.

Well, that and her lack of brain cells.
