Wow....that PG County comment was not very kind.

PG County is a DISASTER. why be closer to that crime pit than you have to? It is going to drag down the state with it - the schools will need to be taken over, the leaders are all going to jail, the murder rate is setting records. Yes, PG County is a huge negative in md's mark.

If your list was limited exclusively to Pepco, I'd say right on. Otherwise...yeah, bizarre. But then again, if you're that big a moron, we don't want you here.

um. Pepco does suck
no comment on Comcast. I assume you can get Direct TV or Verizon FIOS in MD, so dumb comment I agree.
taxes are MUCH higher in MD. so she is right there too.
schools is tough to argue either way. I'd argue VA has much better (and more) options for public colleges, but high schools are probably comparable if you live in Mont or HoCo.
PG County - yes, an embarrassing train wreck.
strange laws selling/buying alcohol. hmmmm, I'd argue VA has the dumb laws with the ABC stores. MD has a more normal system.

so she is 4-2

PG has become predominantly african american. more jews live in Montgomery County than NoVA. Hispanics are in both I guess in equal numbers, and I think NoVa has more asians.

So where you live might be based on a desire to be part of your community for comfort reasons.

Does that mean you can't live in PG county if you aren't black? Or MoCo if your not Jewish? I think not.
There are cities in PG county that I wouldn't live in but the same goes for every county.

I think the PP meant that AAs are more likely to buy in PG County, or Jews in Montgomery County, rather than that others wouldn't buy there. This was true for us, anyway. Jewish and looking for an area with a reasonable number of Jews, so our kids wouldn't be the odd ones out all the time. NoVa didn't meet our criteria for that reason; Montgomery County did.

20:51 there is nothing normal about not being able to buy beer or wine in a grocery store a la Mont. Co.

This has got to be the funniest post I have ever read. Ever. Not inclined to read all the posts. You do realize that both are the same to people who have resided elsewhere? Both have terrible drivers, for instance. This is funny. Thank you, OP.

I wouldn't live in Maryland for fear of its awful drivers. Seriously, Marylanders, what is up with you as drivers??? Anytime I'm in DC or VA and notice some imbecile jackass idiot driving on the road, I'm always saying to myself "Must Be Maryland" and, voila, it's that way 99% of the time. I'd love to see a comparative study of the DC Metro area drivers and the rate of associated accidents - I bet you my Honda Odyssey minivan that Maryland tops the charts! And when you listen to the rush hour traffic reports, where do you suppose all of the major accidents have happened? That's right, boys and girls, it's M-A-R-Y-L-A-N-D! Ug, wouldn't step foot in that State if I didn't have to every now and then....

Certain grocery stores in MoCo do sell beer and wine. Not many, though.

I grew up in Great Falls and went to school at UVa -- we moved from DC to MD about 5 years ago. I don't love MD but I don't hate it either. I love where I live (Glen Echo). Hoping I can talk DH into a move back to VA in a few years...

Absurd hyperbole. I've lived all over the U.S. and haven't found anywhere I enjoy as much as Bowie. The people are wonderful -- unpretentious, intelligent -- and there's real diversity here. The elementary school near my house is racially balanced and one of the top-rated in the state. Yes, the state. I moved here from MoCo and I can't tell you how much my quality of life has improved. It is safe -- leave my doors unlocked and never worry. Didn't feel safe doing that in Montgomery County. There is little traffic congestion or parking issues at our shopping centers. I don't have to deal with Rockville Pike or Georgia Ave. Bowie has a Triple AAA bond rating, the best municipal services bar none. Great parks, great pools. And the houses are affordable. Can't beat it. 15 mins into Capitol Hill. 10 to Annapolis.

the post about Bowie was a joke right? I hear the Sports Junkies making fun of Bowie every morning.

I don't think the post about Bowie is a joke. My kids used to go to daycare in Bowie and there were a ton of great families at their daycare. Most parents were doctors and lawyers who worked in DC but much prefer Bowie. I don't live in Bowie but I worked out that way so I put the kids in a daycare that I was on my way.

The Sports Junkies are dip shits. In that same vein, what are Elliott in the Morning's thoughts on atomic energy?

interesting about the racial makeup of MD and VA.
I have always noticed the following:

Maryland: Jews, Middle Eastern, Hispanic
VA: Asians

Interesting sociological study, at the very least.

Maybe Elliott could chime in on this thread - if I recall from my days listening to him, he's a Jew who lives in VA. Perhaps he didn't get the memo that he should have stayed in MD.
