Pouts and Denial- What is Wrong With My Wife?

What would “taking the bait and rewarding her behavior” look like?

Being kind to her, she doesn't deserve kindness unless she's telling him about her bad day.

Soooo tell us about your marriage OP?

Aggressive, unpleasant, huffy-puffy pout continues. I ignore it. Not taking the bait or rewarding her antisocial behavior. She's now polluting the whole house. I decamp to the basement and post on the internet/watch TV.

At 7:30, I'm called a jerk for not reheating two portions of leftovers. She never asked for a portion.

This is new. We've been together for 17 years.

Humor me with your guesses

"Not taking the bait or rewarding antisocial behavior."

Do you hear yourself? Are you a teen guidance counselor? No.

Hug her. Ask what's going on. Then ask how you can be a better partner. Then do it. Then maybe she'll listen to your suggestions on how she can be a better one too.

You're miserable in your cave. You are.

There is no perfect woman with whom you will have conflicts. Being avoidant solves nothing.

Dude, she feels unhappy because you didn’t give it to her properly.

Take her to the bedroom and give it to her. That should fix most issues.

A wife who gets great sex from her hubby won’t act like your wife does. You’re not delivering in the bedroom, and that’s why she doesn’t respect you.

Whenever my woman is upset or unhappy, I make sure to fck her well. She calls out my name and everything gets better.

You have to learn how to understand women.

I’ll bet you do nothing around the house (or minimal) and leave all the mental load to her. Some days we are able to suck it up better than others. Some days we hit a wall.

I don't find it believable that OP even cooked the easter dinner he claims to have cooked.

I bet he did. It was probably the only thing that he did, meaning that he did about half of the work for hosting people for the holiday, but he probably thinks he did all of it. And now he won’t cook again for a month.

Is the idea of grilling lamb chops and roasting potatoes too daunting for you?

What's the other half? Opening the door or putting plates in the dishwasher?

My extended family usually doesn’t have the person who hosts do the cooking. I’ve done both, either hosting or cooking, for various holidays, and they are about the same amount of work.

Hosting never sounds like it’s going to be much, but it tends to add up.

This is a rude way to phrase it. Since you're asking.

That’s funny, I always thought that being an intentional asshòle was rude.

You are suggesting we communicate with our spouses - no matter how difficult - rather than crowdsource/complain/vent/etc... ?

Welcome to DCUM. Good luck with this.

He isn't venting, he is asking us to justify him hiding in the basement while his wife cares for their 3 kids.

No he clearly is not. He is already doing that and doesn’t like it hence asking for ideas here. If he wanted to hide away then he would just continue as usual and never ask for advice.

I don't find it believable that you don't find it believable.

Arguing and yelling in response rather than walking away if I had to guess. What else would it be?
