My 8 and 5 year old won't stop crushing or fighting. I tell them to please stop, but they don't listen. They can't be out of school for so long.

School is already closed Thursday and Friday of next week and there’s a 2 hour early release on Wednesday, so they’d be burning 2 full snow days and a fraction of a third at worst.

1. If it is slippery out there, I'd rather my children be at home than at a bus stop or walking to school. Drivers in this area are dangerous in slippery conditions.

2. Snow days are a fun part of childhood, and there is lots of learning that takes place while playing in/enjoying the snow.

3. On snow days, when not outside, my kids are usually cuddled up on the couch or in their beds, reading. They are learning while reading, as well. We have "no device days" on snow days, so they play games, read, build Legos, play outside, bake, etc.

While I of course want my children in school when it's safe, I also value these days during which they can have fun and can experience some of the joys of childhood.

You tell them to please stop, but they don't listen. It sounds like you need to do some very serious adjustment to your parenting.

There need to be consequences when they don't listen to you and when they can't act civilized toward each other. Find the consequences that are meaningful to them and use them. Maybe that's loss of a privilege, a time out, extra chores, or something else that they care about.

If you don't gain control as a parent, you will have no chance when they are teens and teens.Get it together now!

Haha yup I just ordered snow boots, snow pants for one kid, and two of those foam toboggan type sleds. So now it will be a bust!

If open Wednesday it will be 2 hour late.

And then we wonder why so many educators are leaving the profession. Parents gotta parent! Stop degating so much of child rearing to teachers. They have enough on their plates already!
