Snowstorm next weekend?

Anonymous
Looking at the forecast….I see 1-3 inches of snow on Saturday and possibly 5-8 inches on Sunday?! Anyone else?

My feed says very cold and LIGHT snow showers both days.

Who knows? We sure did not get snow here yesterday--just a brief flurry on Saturday.

It's another one of those storms where tiny shifts in the track will mean drastically different things. And since it's on the weekend the school systems won't be closing pre-emptively. There will be closures if it actually dumps snow here (which it might! But really probably won't).

This. It's too far out for the models to be reliable. Snow is a particularly difficult thing to predict because slight variations make huge differences.

Keep an eye out and make sure your shovel and gloves are ready, but otherwise sit tight.

I say Monday schools will close.

They should close them for next Monday now.

Too far out for models to be reliable - and metro DC is usually on the snow/winter mix/rain line. Check forecast again Thursday afternoon.

My 16 yr old just informed me there would be 8 inches of snow next weekend so possibly no school at all since Thurs and Fri are already off.
I told him to dream on it’s way to early to forecast what will happen next weekend. But I peeked at the weather and yeah if I were a kid I’d be pretty pumped at how Saturday- Sunday is looking rn. I hope to see snow chances gone over the next few days please.

MCPS is already off on Monday.

Weather underground says 7 inches total starting on Saturday and continuing into Sunday. And it's going to be COLD.

This could be real.

You have to follow Capital Weather Gang or another local meteorologist instead of looking at the apps. The apps just take data from one model, which is why they are always changing. It’s not an actual forecast.

I am so excited!!!

Captial Weather Gang posted a good summary of the four different scenarios for this storm, depending on whether it stays south or pulls north. The result is anything from a complete miss to a memorable storm...so anything from no effect to a few snow days.

It could be so cold as to dry out the atmosphere though. And then the event probably goes south of us.

If this epic snow doesn’t happen, I’m blaming you OP for jinxing it.
