Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS)
I saw both videos. It had everything to do with it. The videos are still on internet. The only thing lighthearted about them was the delight the kids displayed producing them. |
So how would you describe what was shown in video to those that didn’t see? |
Don't leave out TJ. Same script. How many other schools' MSA groups did same? |
Good question! Were other FCPS schools doing this?!? This video was clearly a blatant violation of the SRR. |
+1. I saw the tj one before it was taken down. Anyone have an archive link? |
|
The FCPS statement is so ridiculously vague that I had no idea what it was talking about. What is the point of sending this out to everyone without providing even minimal facts? How are parents supposed understand this nonsense or discuss it with their kids?

Asra' s x account |
| I have seen the video and trust me, these kids knew exactly what they were doing. They were making a mockery of Oct 7 and kidnapping Jews. I’m not Jewish but I’m totally outraged. This is what America has come to. |
| When they show you who they are, BELIEVE THEM! |

The hate and intolerance in these two schools goes far deeper than just the two known Muslim Student Association videos.
The MSA Insta, before it went private, had a post up celebrating the murder of over 1000 people. Will FCPS stand behind their own SRR here, or not? |
This is a lie. Asking others to remember the despicable treatment of Palestinians by Israel is not the same as celebrating the murder of 1000 people. And Israel, a country run by Jews, has killed far, far more Palestinians since the Nakba. |
| I’m so confused. I don’t see this on Fox News or anywhere else and I have not received the email from the county. Did this even happen? |
Nearly identical emails were sent to parents by the principals for Langley HS and TJHSST. Here is one of them: “ October 27, 2027 Dear Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology Families, We are aware of social media videos featuring members of high school student organizations that were posted on accounts that are neither school nor division approved. These videos depict violence, including kidnappings, with victims being hooded and placed in the trunk of a car, among other things. Acting out this type of violence is traumatizing for many of us to watch and, given world events, especially traumatizing to our Jewish students, staff, and community. FCPS would never consider these videos to be appropriate or acceptable content. We strive to create a learning environment where all students and staff feel safe and respected. Social media content from FCPS students that shows unsafe behavior, harassment, or violence is a violation of the FCPS Student Rights and Responsibilities and can result in serious disciplinary action. Part of our daily work involves guiding our young people to engage in ethical and responsible behavior, including as it relates to social media. All official social media accounts associated with our school are managed and monitored by a staff member, who provides guidance to our students. But there are also unofficial accounts, which we do our best to identify and remove whenever possible. Our schools must be safe spaces for each and every one of our students, including ensuring students can exercise their free speech rights. But this needs to be balanced with equally important concerns relating to protecting students from harm. This starts by collectively committing to denounce all acts of antisemitism, Islamophobia, and hatred in any form. We must hold on to shared values of empathy, compassion, and respect for all people. As a partner in your child’s education, we encourage you to be aware of your child’s online actions. It is also important to have an open conversation about making safe and smart choices online, and how those decisions can have real-world impacts. Some helpful resources you can use include the FCPS Guidance for Technology Use and Digital Citizenship Resources for Families. I continue to welcome your thoughts and ideas about how we can make our schools and community a safe place for our children to learn and grow. Sincerely, Michael Mukai Principal Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology” |
| They need to go back to decades past for club meeting announcements: “be there or be square.” Not everything has to be an edgy Tik Tok video. |
