Just wait, it’s coming. It’s only in the past two weeks or so that I’ve seen things really start to spike at my regular stores.

Why even say something like this? Either it will happen or it won’t. Maybe YOU should just wait.

Why so defensive? Climbing grocery prices are a real problem that affect everyone. I spend an inordinate amount of time and money at grocery stores, as I imagine many other posters on a parenting message board do. I notice when things are going up little by little and when they’re going up sharply all of a sudden. I suppose it’s possible that stores like Aldi and Lidl have managed to stave this off so far, but the economic conditions overall are not going in the right direction.

Yes, climbing prices during the pandemic were absolutely brutal. My experience is that things have leveled out. Which apparently makes me a liar or an idiot, according to people in this thread.

Do you actually keep receipts and compare month-to-month, or do you just feel like they’re essentially leveled off?

Coffee is likely the #1 item in terms of tariff impact. Most other food items will have modest tariff impacts given most materials are sourced domestically. Canned items will go up as most aluminum for cans is sourced outside the US. Regarding Trump, would you trust someone with your money who has gone through at least five bankruptcies?

Ok, Barefoot Contessa. For the rest of us, store bought will work just fine.

I bought a pint of Halo ice cream for $7 yesterday that was just $3.99 over the summer

That is pure profit-taking. The secret ingredient in Halo Top is literally air.

I don’t keep receipts as in literal slips of paper but yes I do track my weekly spending.

If my $21 a pound mail order coffee from Costa Rica becomes 15% higher so what.

100% Kona is now $60-80 a pound before shipping. Tried several brands I used to get when they were in the under $40 range and climate change has changed the flavor of the light or medium roast I prefer. If I liked dark roast coffee I might not notice but I don't.

The entire country should rest easy now since this doesn't affect you and you don't care.

Chuck roast was 9.99/lb at Costco last week.

Chuck.

That’s a product unlikely to be affected by tariffs. Why so high?

Beef can't be brought in from Mexico. If Biden was to blame for avian flu then Trump takes the heat for screwworm.
