Why do people insist on saying this when of course it's not true?

Because it is true. If you shopped at these places you would know that.

Because Trump is in power. DUH. If a Democrat was in power the media wouldnt STOP talking about it. Ask yourself why that is. Who benefits from all of this---- billionaires!

I am outraged because Trump is extorting money from us, the American people for no good reason. Are we supposed to not drink coffee? Either pay up or no coffee. This is too much. Stop giving billionaires all the tax breaks and forcing the American citizens to pay tariffs!

I might have to go back to Aldi. Their brand coffee was always decent and I think it's/was $4.99. We aren't picky about coffee (save no Folger's or Maxwell House) and would always just buy what was on sale at Giant. You could usually find Starbuck's, Peet's, Lavazza, 8'oclock..etc, for under $10. They are all $12 - $14. Thanks

For the people ranting about Trump (and I don't like the tariffs either) are you the same people who were claiming Biden's inflation was only transitional or that claimed you didn't feel it or even that it was right wing misinformation? Just asking as I see some of the same writing styles....

NP but "Biden's inflation" was caused by Covid and printed money checks written by both Trump and Biden. It was brought about by a global pandemic and limited choices to respond to that situation, it wasn't intentional terrible policy. Added to that, it was transitional! Inflation came back down, Biden and the Fed stuck the landing even though it was supposed to be impossible to accomplish. Contrast this with current policy: everyone knew that the tarriffs would be inflationary, and they weren't in any way necessary, but Trump did it anyway. Now the inflation is starting and the only way it can be countered is to perform an about-face on tarriff policy (which may well happen). Apples, meet oranges.

Just wait, it’s coming. It’s only in the past two weeks or so that I’ve seen things really start to spike at my regular stores.

Not for me. I bought 30lbs of green coffee beans and roast them at home.

I do shop at those places and while a few staple items might not have gone up, the vast majority of products have. Do you think we all live on a different planet?

What brand of coffee is not imported and therefore not tariffed? Your mail order coffee is about to get a lot more expensive sweety.

I’ll hold my breath. Not the least bit worried.

Why even say something like this? Either it will happen or it won’t. Maybe YOU should just wait.

I do shop in those stores and prices have increased. You are just not paying attention or you are not smart enough to realize that you are being robbed by tariffs.

Which specific things that you buy at Aldi have gone up since January, and how much?

Stock up, your mail order coffee roaster is going out of business shortly.

Why so defensive? Climbing grocery prices are a real problem that affect everyone. I spend an inordinate amount of time and money at grocery stores, as I imagine many other posters on a parenting message board do. I notice when things are going up little by little and when they’re going up sharply all of a sudden. I suppose it’s possible that stores like Aldi and Lidl have managed to stave this off so far, but the economic conditions overall are not going in the right direction.

Aldi sold Kiwi's for $2.95 for 2 lbs in January now they are $4.95 for 2 lbs. Trump tariff.
