Hardly.
Follow the money. Orange County depends on the wealth of LA.

They can leave the union. The talk is Washington, Oregon and California leaving the Union and joining Canada as three provinces. Trump and the Republicans will happy let them go. All republicans hate California and the west coast.

Yet, there are millions of Rs in the west coast.

If CA ever moved to Canada, we might actually move back to CA.

the only problem with that map is that parts of PA and VA would likely want in...and what would happen to the college football conferences? Because that matters to a lot of MAGAs.

Yes. Virginia wants in. Probably Illinois too. Though it makes the map awkward.

Half of VA would not want in.

So we can get rid of the worst parts?

Wait a minute, maybe I am warming up to this idea.

Exactly. Money equals power. Where is the money in VA? NP

I didn't realize how much funds from the economic engine of the state--NOVA--benefit sparsely populated, less productive parts of the state until I had occasion to drive around rural areas of the state and was shocked at the nice, newly paved roads and pristine new public school buildings. And yet those tend to be the parts of the state that vote red. Let them pull themselves up by their own bootstraps before they use NOVA's tax revenues.

True of every state and in general, nationally.

The GDP and innovation are produced in blue areas but the red areas benefit. In the post war era, it held well, but Trumpism has blown apart tensions that have been fomenting for decades, mostly because the GOP and its racism, cannot fathom people of color having economic success. But in general, cities and their GDP support their state's rural areas and blue states, in general, support red states economically. Maybe there should be a law that a state cannot take more from the Federal Government than they put in?

That’s fine. MAGA can have the land. The rest of us will live on the more productive parts of the country and eventually we can buy it back once MAGA has learned its lesson. No more sucking off the teat of blue urban taxes. Party’s over.

There is no moderate position with the Republican and maga. They just want to kill all democrats and independents.

It is time for everyone to go their separate ways.

California can try to leave and guess what? It'll collapse in a month.

California has to import the vast majority of its energy. How will CA get enough oil to sustain its entire state? CA hospitals have to import a huge amount of medicine. How will CA get medicines from abroad when no countries will ship medicines directly to CA? They have to negotiate imports with a federal govt. CA would collapse in a matter of weeks as they watch the sticks of medicines in their pharmacies and hospitals crash in no time.

If CA were a country it would have the 4th largest economy in the world. Trump and MAGAS are fools.

There aren't borders that can be protected. On the other hand a civil war now would destroy the US economy, and the public would see Trump as the reason it happened. I don't think it gets that far, but it also isn't out of the realm of possibility.

As it is, state compacts between CA/OR/WA already make a trading block and the same has or is happening with eastern states, so perhaps Russia gets its fever dream of a weaker north America.

Dumbest idea of all time. And what currency would CA/OR/WA use for International trade even assuming any country would trade with them? They would be cut off from banking and US currency. Individual states have no ability to back their currency even if they tried to invent their own. And even fewer countries would accept payment in CA dollars,.lol.

You Dems are truly delusional and haven't really thought it through, have you? Individual states would collapse immediately after being cutout of the banking system and from US currency. They'd lose all ability to obtain good from abroad, which is where tons of energy, food, and medicines come from.

They can withhold federal funds. As the economic powerhouse of the US it would get some attention.

And the fourth economic powerhouse of the world....

You know, "abroad" isn't just from points East.

Ironic that the state of California has funded $30 million into CHIRLA, the main funding source of these paid rioters.

Canada has an abundance of power. It would welcome CA. CA and NY contribute more than their fair share to the federal coffers, that the red states take from.

Where would the rest of the red states get its produce, particularly in the winter. They'd have to import them. Good luck.

These fruits and vegetables come from a relatively small number of states where agricultural production is highly concentrated. The leader among these states is California, which is responsible for nearly 70% of U.S. fruit and vegetable production by itself.

ironic that Trump is sending the Marines because a bunch of people are protesting in the streets, claiming these protests are an insurrection, when he didn't do so when there was an actual insurrection on Jan 6 at the Capitol -- people with zipties and crying "Hang Mike Pence".
