Between the riots/national guard/marines being deployed by Trump and Trump threatening to cut if federal funding - what is the end result here? Can California also cut of giving taxes to the federal government? Can they leave the union? Will this be the beginning of an actual split in states? |
No, they can't leave the union. And if they try MAGA will associate them with the Confederacy. It's a no-win situation. |
They can try to leave the union as the south did in the Civil War era.
There aren't borders that can be protected. On the other hand a civil war now would destroy the US economy, and the public would see Trump as the reason it happened. I don't think it gets that far, but it also isn't out of the realm of possibility. As it is, state compacts between CA/OR/WA already make a trading block and the same has or is happening with eastern states, so perhaps Russia gets its fever dream of a weaker north America. |
I’m not saying that they should leave the union, but at this point why on Earth would anyone care what maga thinks? They are clearly insane, what good could come from it? |
They can withhold federal funds. As the economic powerhouse of the US it would get some attention. |
I would 100% be on board for this. |
Putting aside the legal issues, how would they actually do that? People and companies send their federal taxes directly to the federal government. They don’t go through the California state government first. So how would California “withhold” it? |
Don't worry. They won't. They're all talk. |
Let's get it over with and divide the intelligent people on one side the deranged anti constitution MAGA on the other. Tired of listening to them blather on with their racism, lies, and complete hatred. |
Newsim is bloviating. He doesn’t have a leg to stand on. |
He has what we once knew as the law, on his side, but since MAGA is blowing up the Constitution, I can see where you come to that conclusion. In the new US order, Trump is the law and MAGA are the followers and adherents. |
But wait isn't MAGA the "don't tread on me" party. Hmmmm....this is where education would help them understand this administration is beyond treading and now officially standing on their necks. |
No he doesn’t. Immigration is the plenary role of the federal government. The president has the authority and the obligation to do what’s necessary to protect federal personnel and facilities. The law is not in Newsom’s side. |
Yes, they supposedly hate government overreach--unless it's directed against people they hate, like non-white immigrants or gays. |
The law is whatever DCUM wants it to be. If it's not, it's the end of democracy and, of course, racist. |
