I agree with this. |
However, taking a medication to go from BMI 22 to 18 isn’t normal/healthy. |
Have you considered chopping off an arm? You can lose 10-15 pounds instantly. |
OP said she wants to take meds to go to 135. That's vanity, which is completely normal. |
PPs are taking about the 125 lbs poster. |
DP, I’m not normalizing this, no. |
OP were you lifting weights when you got married? Muscle weight is by definition heavier. |
Yes, the OP who said she wishes she could get down to 125, but her goal as stated in her OP and the subject of this thread is to lost 10-15 pounds or get down to 135. That's a totally reasonable weight loss goal. If she wants to use drugs to get there that has nothing to do with body dysmorphia. Loads of people are doing it. Do they all have body dysmorphia or are you just feeling a little insecure and lashing out? |
DP. Maybe there are situations that are appropriate for using medication to lose merely 10-15 pounds. But to lose 10-15 pounds when the person is not obese - not even overweight - is not one of them. It may or may not warrant a mental diagnosis; but it does seem excessively desiring of a self-determined vision of perfection. Weight loss drugs were not intended for people like this. |
Intermittent fasting and/or no added sugars and/or way less bread and pasta. |
+1000 using a medication for life for 10-15 pounds is not normal, no matter how many people are doing it. |
I am your height and just went from 145 to 135.
Restriction beyond a reasonable amount of calories is not the way and is not sustainable. Restricting mostly to whole less processed foods changes the way your body processes food and curbs unhealthy cravings. Cottage cheese, not ice cream. Salads with olive oil based dressing and a healthy cheese not salads with ranch and fried chicken. Side salad not fries. No sugary drinks. Etc... Try it! |
I’m right here with you, OP. I lift heavy and hike/jog but I like to eat. I’m going to try to eat less - push the plate away - and see if that works first. But I’m following because in the last several days I’ve been saying, “ what about a gpl…” |
Loads of people in America overeat and are obese. Does the sheer number of people doing something mean it is a healthy way of doing things? |
I have sleep apnea but am not obese. I just lost 15 pounds on a glp-1 (that I’ve not been able to lose on my own) and no longer have the apnea. GLP shamers, do I get a pass or will you condemn me for resorting to the medicine? |
