Definitely Dirty Dancing. Did you know Baby's mom was supposed to be a different actress? Kelly Bishop was supposed to play the flirtatious older lady and found out she was switched to that part when she came to shoot. She and Jerry Orbach became lifelong friends. |
YES! Except for Alec Baldwin, who I love, but I didn't love him in this movie. |
Um, ok. It won 4 Oscars. Best picture, best director, best film editing and best screenplay writing. Nicholson, Wahlberg and DiCaprio were all nominated for Golden Globes. Nicholson was fantastic. I am sure Hackman would have been good too. Not sure what your beef is. |
OMG this. From Williams to Hackman (and a young Calista Flockhart) - perfection. |
Omg this. Nathan Lane was hysterical. And every time I think of robin williams saying his house was like a monastery, and then barking “SIT DOWN!” , I want to die laughing. |
Not Josh Hutcherson... the worst Peeta. He just couldn't meet the fire of Katniss. |
+1 recently learned they'd initially wanted Robin Williams for the drag queen role (coming off of Mrs. Doubtfire). Thankfully, he wanted the other role and they cast Nathan Lane. |
Yes, to me he is one of the worst casting mistakes in the history of film. He had such a little mean face, not attractive enough. He needed to have quiet kindness and more presence. |
Christopher Reeve as Superman |
I also thought Katniss was horribly cast. I love Jennifer Lawrence but she didn’t look like a Katniss. Katniss was supposedly starving, malnourished. Jennifer Lawrence was of average height and weight- they needed a waif. I thought her acting was fine but she did not look right at all for the role |
12 angry Men, can’t believe I only recently watched this classic |
Cat On A Hot Tin Roof - Liz Taylor and Paul Newman |
Almost Famous!!! |
I think that’s fine and probably a deliberate choice actually, a good one: you don’t want to promote anorexia to teens with a beautiful skinny heroine. She looked strong. In the book she does hunt for food so not sure she was even truly starving. |
