Are topics like Diversity and Equity out this year?

Will it be taboo to write about things like equity in your essays?

Nope, but it’ll just be repackaged under different words. And you guys will be too stupid to understand just like you’re too stupid to understand. DEI is just implementation of the civil rights act.

No, DEI is the application of the belief that certain groups are necessarily unable to compete, & need big daddy government to look out for them.

+1

It is the DEI supporters who are the real racists.

Referring to JD Vance, many DEI supporters say "He does not have the chops to get into Yale. He is the ultimate DEI pick."

It shows what DEI supporters really think of people they claim to be helping.

According to a Trump Administration official who spoke about Harvard:
“[They] should assign Office of [sic] Civil Rights employees to the Harvard admissions office and direct the university to hold no admissions meeting without their physical presence,” Eden wrote. “The Office of Civil Rights should be copied on every email correspondence, and Harvard should be forced to provide a written rationale for every admissions decision to ensure nondiscrimination.”

It's not clear what his role is but it's safe to say there is pressure being exerted by the administration. Please, only comments on changes you think will occur - this is not an invite for trolls to hijack this thread!

I wish this happened last year.

The diversity essays are nothing sort of ridiculous. At 14 to 17 years of age, children do not have to come up with stuff they did to show how inclusive or diverse they are.

Thank you Trump!

Who needs intelligent kids with a sense of perspective at an elite college?

And DEI statement is the only way to get that perspective!

Very few heterosexual, Christian, White males are getting into Harvard or Ivy+ these days. The only ones are usually the athletes. Check out their class pages and you will get a better idea.

Since Americans are increasingly less religious, AND religion is not one of the metrics typically reported on a class page, I'm wondering what you are really saying here. Could it be that you are using "Christian" to mean "Not Jewish?"

If so, why so antiSemitic?

Actually a well written essay on how DEI is racial discrimination in disguise could be a winner this year.

I think people are seeing how DEI was sort of cynically rolled out in the private sector (and then rapidly abandoned) and assuming the same will happen in higher education.

The key difference is that holistic admissions existed before 2020, and higher ed administrators and educators have a genuinely held belief that universities benefit from a diverse set of scholars on campus.

I love all of the hypocrites who voted for Trump because they want less inflation, smaller government, more working class jobs, food on their table, etc. are OK with spending lots of money on policing Harvard. How does this impact their lives in any way whatsoever?

Now I have some issues with how Harvard handled some things. But this is such a ridiculous, childish over-reaction. And all of these idiots are doing exactly what Trump and his propaganda machine are telling them to do because they are brainwashed. Meanwhile the price of their eggs keeps going up. But I'm sure that is Biden's fault. Because heaven forbid they question one thing Trump does.

This is most definitely an unreasonable reaction to racial discrimination that was going on before but you can't always expect reasoanble responses to racism. Wasn't that what we were told when the BLM riots were going on? That some irrationlity is to be expected in response to racial discrimination?

All the holistic stuff is going to backfire as well.

With all the counselors, we are seeing surge in teenagers starting non-profits and hitting up their relatives for donation to their non-profit that helps poor trans kids in war zones.
If you think wealth coincides with test scores, wait until you see the correlation between wealth and starting impactful non-profits, getting an article published in a journal, or starting a business that has $1 million in revenue.

The prompts are definitely going to be different this year. No more veiled attempts to get students to volunteer their race.

It's about equalizing outcomes along racial lines. And people like you are why we have a president trump and why colleges and universities are under attack.

So, no, I don't think much will change. Universities genuinely believe that a more diverse student body leads to a more robust educational experience for all students. This means they will continue to look at the "whole" student and consider what they add to the overall class.

If it is a mechanism to try and achieve racial balancing then it is not consistent with the letter OR the spirit of the SFFA decision

Agree. If anything, DEI will increase. Trump has increased people’s resolve in this regards.

That would be extremely stupid. Trump didn't happen in a vaccuum. Her is the response to the pendulum swinging too far to the left on this race crap.
