According to a Trump Administration official who spoke about Harvard:
“[They] should assign Office of [sic] Civil Rights employees to the Harvard admissions office and direct the university to hold no admissions meeting without their physical presence,” Eden wrote. “The Office of Civil Rights should be copied on every email correspondence, and Harvard should be forced to provide a written rationale for every admissions decision to ensure nondiscrimination.”

It's not clear what his role is but it's safe to say there is pressure being exerted by the administration. Please, only comments on changes you think will occur - this is not an invite for trolls to hijack this thread!

I wish this happened last year.

The diversity essays are nothing sort of ridiculous. At 14 to 17 years of age, children do not have to come up with stuff they did to show how inclusive or diverse they are.

Thank you Trump!

Someone is in need of a cracker curb stomp.

You likely also believe that merit is solely defined by a test score. Your post above is a great example of inadequate intellect and your need to push for a narrow and inaccurate definition of merit to compensate for your intellectual deficiencies.

Smart move would be to focus on achievement, long term benefit to the school at most institutions. Some like Harvard will double down, so all depends at which institutions are on kids list.

Agree. If anything, DEI will increase. Trump has increased people’s resolve in this regards.

On Substack, I read an article a few days ago “the collapse of holistic admissions”

That would be a delusional fever dream. Holisitc admissions isn't going anywhere.

DP. They have proved it is the best indicator of success in college. Numerous studies. This is why the tests have been brought back at elite schools (that don’t need TO to game selectivity percentages).

Very few heterosexual, Christian, White males are getting into Harvard or Ivy+ these days. The only ones are usually the athletes. Check out their class pages and you will get a better idea.

the glaring irony in the DCUM crowd is that although it’s an incredibly progressive crowd on most issues - but bring up test optional (widely viewed as a progressive DEI initiative)? it’s rubbish and must be eliminated! - why? because it hurts my kid who benefits from testing because he has unlimited resources to prep! the selective outrage is hysterical- the dirty little secret in the dcum crowd is the massive amt of prep the parents jam on their kids, since the unspoken view is that the unlimited test prep is their only true hook. Let the bashing and defensive posturing commence!

Yep. Good riddance to the diversity essays and the "experiences you bring to our community (wink wink). So ridiculous.
