She seems much warmer to him now than in the first term. I think she couldn't stand him during that era but they are closer now and she does love him.

Never really thought about it. No I don't think she loves him in a romantic way- but I think she loves him in a way that she's accepted who he is and that this is her life.

I am a Democrat, but even I can see that she is an excellent mother.

Supposedly, Obamas are divorcing.

They were rumors because she didn’t attend several public events with him. Listen to the podcast with her this week, it’s actually pretty funny that people assume because she made her own decision to not attend that they’re divorcing. They are finally at a point in their marriage and life where she can make that decision and not have to do “the right thing” for the media. But the media runs with it anyway to distract from real issues.

I think she's hurt her own reputation by not attending those events. It wasn't just the "right thing" in the eyes of the media, but the right thing for the country. Americans expect all the former presidents and first ladies to show up and support our democracy at state funerals and inaugurations. I personally do not think as highly of her now, and she was someone I admired before.

I think Michelle Obama has been quite transparent about their political journey: Barack was the ambitious dreamer, and she was the supportive spouse - the one who subjugated her own dreams and vision for that of her husband. Unlike, say, Hillary Clinton, Jill Biden or even possibly Melania, I don't think Michelle Obama had any interest in the WH. But she was interested in supporting her husband and helping him achieve his dreams. She held their family together and raised those kids while he was off in the Illinois legislature making a name for himself.

I think it's a common theme among politician wives, and they don't get the credit they deserve. I'd put Laura Bush in this category too.

Heck no. I mean, even the nicest and warmest and best matched couples naturally cool after 20 years. Donald is not nice or warm and Melania married for money/status. That doesn’t mean they have a bad marriage per se but they definitely are not in love and almost certainly never were in love.

I do not think she loves him. It's a classic quid pro quo. On a much lesser scale I know a family where the rich, American man married a foreign, younger woman and had a second family. The dynamic is that the man is a self-centered dick who wants to be taken care of and has all the power and gets to behave poorly. The woman provides some sophistication in his life. The woman has no money without the man, and is definitely not strong enough to leave him even if she wanted to.
