Politics aside, do you think Melania loves Donald?

Huh? He essentially purchased her. She was a young model.

She’s wealthy and free to do what she wants and realizes that at this stage she’s not likely to do better (“better” - as in, access to wealth via-a-vis personal autonomy). But also, I don’t think she wants to - their personalities are well-matched, and they talk. Not everyone is rushing off to divorce because things aren’t emotionally blissful like in fairy tales. Also he’s older, and she knows she’ll be well-rewarded for her loyalty all these years. She reminds me of a patient cat, crouching and waiting stoically. One could call this kind of attachment over years “love”

I dont think you understand the premise of the OP. It's really obvious Jill loves Joe. It's not at all obvious Melania loves Donald, which is why OP asked.

FWIW, I think Michelle and Barack love each other, and Laura and George W. love each other. I have no idea what's up with Hillary and Bill but there seems to be some mutual affection.

This really is an excellent metaphor. And, frankly, she kind of looks like a cat.

I think she has come to love him. But, to be sure, she was disgusted with him for many stretches at a time.

No but I also don't really blame a person (in general, not in this specific situation) for being pragmatic about marriage and finding a way to get what they want out of life (economic security, motherhood) as long as the relationship can be mutually beneficial and not abusive. I don't think you have to marry for romantic love and I think sometimes the ideal of perfect romantic love via marriage gets in the way of what you have to do to make a decades long marriage work (compromise, give each other space to be your own people sometimes, divide and conquer, work through personal crap that might mean the marriage doesn't function perfectly for a while and then come back to each other as true partners).

I sometimes wish I'd prioritized money more in marriage. Not because I want to be a SAHM and never have to work (I like working and would work in some capacity no matter what) but because money is an enormous source of stress and while I love my partner and we work well together, he can be short sighted about money in a way that puts a lot of pressure on me. If I could have my exact same partner but he has family money and a more pragmatic understanding of how money works, that would be pretty nice.

But also Trump is a wanna-be dictator who has done enormous harm to so many people, that part I don't understand. At some point you need to pull your head out of the sand. I don't understand how anyone in his orbit allows this to go on, it's grotesque.

Haha I actually think my cat would mourn me more than Melania would mourn Trump. Though if I died my cat would probably freak out about who was going to give him his special secret early breakfast at 5am, whereas I'm sure Melania has a plan in place and won't be missing any meals.

Also my cat loves when I rub his belly and Melania probably doesn't let Trump touch her at all anymore.

No. Lol

She loves the lifestyle he can provide.

Do I think they make crazy, passionate love together? Please.
Anonymous
No.

She can barely stomach him.

It is obvious from her body language and facial expressions. As well as where she spends time (e.g., she doesn’t even rush to his side when he is imperiled).

She is a paid escort, in essence.

I believe she does.

I’m sure if you read her prenup, it would shed light on this issue.

Stockholm syndrom?

She is probably happier than half the people on DCUM. She is not a hostage. If she wanted to leave, it would have happened after his first presidency.

Please. She was never a model. That's just the story they're selling and some people are buying. She was average looking at best.
