has anyone successfully gone off of a gpl-1

Sure. I am one of the PPs. I've been using Zepbound for 19 months. I pay out-of-pocket using the discount card. I increased the dose very slowly, up to the maximum 15 mg., which I've taken since last fall. I have had few side effects, but I need be careful to get enough fiber. During the first seven months, I lost 65 pounds. Over the next year, I lost another 55 pounds. There have been months when I lost maybe a pound or two, and then I would drop 5 pounds in a week. At this point, I've been spacing the doses, taking shots every 10-14 days. At the beginning, I focused on nutritious eating and moving more (however I could), which mainly was walking and using lighter free weights. After I lost the first 50 pounds, I started increasing my workouts and weight training. Zepbound has enabled me to transform my life. Unfortunately, it's cost-prohibitive for many people, but physical and mental health benefits cannot be overstated.

I'm doing the same thing right now after losing over 100 pounds. I don't want to undo any of the positive changes I've made, although I will consider going without the medication if my weight and new habits feel stable. One massive benefit of the medication is removing the need to obsess about diet and exercise, which is something I've never had at any time in my life. In the past, I lost weight by making diet and exercising pretty much the most critical priority in my life, at the expense of everything else. On the medication, I am eating well, exercising, and fully engaged in other areas of life (family, work, social, etc.).

My God, you just articulated how I feel. I'm someone who has always struggled (successfully) to stay slim - but it was a constant inner battle. It consumed me. On this med, it's just almost effortless to eat well and exercise. I doesn't dominate my life, alter my plans, suck up all my energy now. It is life changing.

I've been on tirzepatide (zepbound) for 14 months. Have lost almost 80 pounds, which is just about a third of my starting weight. (5'7", started at 243, now 165)

I've never gone above 7/wk. 2.5 worked for me for several months.

I plan to lost about 10 more pounds. Given how slowly I'm losing now I think it will take me 3-4 months to do that and then I'll start tapering.

I would love to be able to get to zero medication and maintain my weight at these levels. I am willing to stay on the medication for life though if necessary. It has been transformational and life saving for me. And it stopped and reversed significantly negative medical scenarios that would have put me on lifelong medication to address the result of obesity - which now isn't necessary. I'm ok w/ this deal!

I was just off for 2-3 months because I was sick and had no appetite for a couple of weeks, and then wanted to see what would happen. I did start to get hungry - not ravenous, but far more thoughts of food. And I gained a few pounds although I had also dropped 8 lbs when I was sick so some was getting back to a set point. I went back on the maintenance dose last week and can definitely tell the difference. I just get a shot every 2 weeks so truly maintenance.

I absolutely love not being dominated by thoughts of food, feeling uncomfortable with hunger, wrestling with cravings. I would love to take this drug forever.

Girl it's time to slow your roll.

I wish those with eating disorders had their own subforum.

Never going to happen. The weight-obsessed are everywhere, just looking for a chance to talk about weight loss.

I once asked Jeff if there could be a weight-loss forum so these people would have place to go, and nope.
